What about just keeping Glenn and including him in our nickel package? I'm thinking having as many experienced DBs in the same conference as Indy would make sense. I thought Marcus Coleman did an OK job in converting to SS, so if can play at the same level next year, can you imagine a five DB set of Robinson, Buchanon, Glenn, Coleman and Faggins/Earl/Simmons. Maybe too many egos, but just a thought.
Forgot to mention the passs happy Jags....although we already own them. Still you can never have to many great secondary players on your team. Next to quarteback, maybe the most important.
Okay, you made your point, you don't gotta keep tellin' us! I'd love to see Glenn stay, I like him, That would, indeed, be a great secondary, I believe. However, as others have said, they must be trying to move him, so they can trade for some guy with a big salary. Hopefully and offensive tackle or guard. The Texans MUST do something to help out DC.
I figured I'd wait awhile before I ask this, but where's the link? Why on Earth would Fox bust out at 2A on a Sunday to report this? Has it been repeated since then?
It's weird hearing all of this now considering when we first got Buchanan everyone was talking about how he will be the one in the nickel package and take over when Glenn was done... I guess that Glenn didn't like this too much or they are trying to make a salary dump for a good pickup or something...we can only wait and see.
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/front/3150472 On Saturday, a source said veteran cornerback Aaron Glenn had been given permission to seek a trade, raising doubt as to whether the 33-year-old cornerback will be a Texan this season
I agree about Glenn's leadership, but with the cap in the NFL, money has to be a top priority. Glenn is due to make alot of money and since his injury, he has not been the same player. Still a good player, but not the player he was before the injury.
Here is another: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/fb/texans/3150476 They must be clearing alot of money for someone special or next year's draft/FA's.
It makes sense. Now we two young "shut down" corners so there is no need to have an expensive old one.
bye bye Glenn, you're getting old and it was very apparent especially against young stud recievers like Roy Williams who absolutely abused you. The brutal reality of pro sports. You did help this franhise get off the ground but you aren't Craig Biggio. Now I don't have to listen to you stumble through your radio program. That time slot was already reserved for Charlie Palilo and Ralph Cooper in my car.
Apparently AG to be unconditionally released. So, this draft replaces Glenn (and maybe Walker?) and FAgency replaced Sharper. The real on field benefit over last season only comes IF the newly available cap space collects June 1 cuts.
Looks like Glenn has reached a deal with the Cowboys. I'm going to vomit. http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/front/3153008
Awwww man. That is so s****. At least we don't play them this year. He should really help out their defense. Damn it, the Texans could have and should have kept him. I just hope letting Sharper, Foreman, and Glenn go (3 guys who I really liked) is to make room for a high priced tackle who will protect David Carr.
Great pickup for the Boyz if they do, in fact, sign him. I remember watching him with the Jets...and he can be solid...I didnt see many Texans games so Im not sure how he played for you guys.
I like AG and this cut hurts from a fan standpoint more than the others but we should be ok at db without him. PB, Dunta and Faggins should be solid for many years together.
Well, at least we don't have to listen to him say "you know" three times per sentence on his radio show...
He played pretty good with us, but did have some problems last year with the rule emphasis. He wouldn't get burned, but he got flagged a few times playing the game the way he plays the game.
Buchanon is not a shutdown corner. He's decent at coverage but tends to overplay the ball therfore getting beat on long plays, he's great at returning kicks/punts, and below average at best at open field tackles. Hopefully he'll mature into a shutdown corner like Dunta will be, but that's all in the hands of Capers and staff now.
