Reddit and 4chan are what media uses as credible sources nowadays? Hah.

There is a reason I just come to the hangout here and don't visit that r****ded site unless its for an AMA (which has gotten dumb now too).

The mainstream media is trying to keep up with them and they can't so they just report what the internet finds without validation. Sadly this will probably be the norm going forward until some heavy lawsuits teach them a lesson.

Terrorist organizations do, but not psychos. Wasn't like McVeigh came out an announced what he did. He left behind plenty of evidence and he wasn't taken in for the crime until 2 days later despite being arrested the same day on other unrelated charges.

The first 48 hours after an incident are critical.

If there isn't a break in that window of time, typically the investigation ends up dragging on for a long time.

No one claiming responsibility makes me think this was domestic.

International incidents are usually claimed within hours, if not minutes.

you don't do something like this without the intention to send some sort of a message. i'd be very surprised if those responsible are satisfied with doing something like this and disappearing into the sunset.

That is certainly possible. It took 6 months to even identify who was responsible for the Olympic Park bombing and that was only after Eric Rudolph had planted two more bombs. It took years to catch him. It also took years to catch the Unabomber and only then after his brother turned him in. In a similar case the DC Sniper case wasn't solved until the perpetrators called into the tip line themselves to steer the investigators in the right direction.

It's scary to think of this but even in our heavily interconnected society one or two individuals acting alone are going to be hard to catch.

I'm thinking it was domestic too. It seems like they wanted attention and not so much to just hurt people or make a statement. A marathon just seems like a weird target for it'l terrorists. You could kill more people by walking into a crowded mall with those things. I think someone in Boston just saw the opportunity to do something that would be captured on TV.

Who says certain organizations haven't already claimed responsibility for the attack?

I know one thing, the Gov't is not telling us a lot.

Do you think the government should tell us everything about this attack? Consider that the FBI might have a list of suspects already but releasing that list now while they are still sorting through the evidence could do much more harm than good. It could one spook the suspect(s) so that they become harder to catch. It could also implicate a lot of people who actually are innocent.

If it was an organized terrorist activity, they would not have picked such a highly popular event, unless they were going on a suicide mission. No terrorist organization would offer up one of their own without having them dead first.

Also, if it were a terrorist organization, these bombs would have been more damaging.

    Just my opinion.

Maybe we should privatize the investigation. Lets see how Walmart Investigative Services will handle it.

If someone claimed responsibility, they wouldn't do it in a private communication with the government.

I agree that the lack of claim indicates that it was not an organized/international terrorist group.

My concern is that, if this was a domestic psycho-type (not sending a particular message, just wanting to kill and maim)....they aren't claiming responsibility because they want to commit more acts like this, a la Ted Kaczynski.

I can't believe that this won't get solved eventually.

Just because the media has repeatedly got everything wrong doesn't mean the FBI won't eventually get it right. This is assuming they haven't already and just aren't alerting the media yet (for obvious reasons).

Fox News is reporting that the authorities/FBI will release a video today or tomorrow.

Another media website said they were looking for two individuals, one of whom is white.

It is going to be useless to speculate anymore until the authorities release that video or and additional information.

Current press conference showing pictures of the two suspects. Looks like two younger guys. I'd say early to mid 20's.

Photos of the two suspects are being presented at a press conference right now. If they had been posted by crowd searchers, I hadn't seen them.
