ESPNEWS talked to JVG as well after the conference but he didn't say anything new. They basically asked the same questions that were asked earlier. Though Jeff did mention that he was forced out of broadcasting by Fratello. :D

I guess I don't know what I was hoping for, maybe Rudy T to come running in from the wings like some Jerry Springer show and beat little Van Gundy to a pulp. Nah..........
A glimpse of the new logo would have been nice.

I don't know if you are in Houston or not but 610 sports radio said they were gonna try and get JVG on the air later today for some questions. So if you have access to a radio keep it on. If not, then I'm sure someone here will provide a transcript of some sort.

one anomaly means what? 39 wins at home has happened how many times?, and what were all those teams road records? 39 at home and great road records go hand in hand.

Look at all of Patricia's stats. 8 teams have gone 37-4 or better at home since '94, all those teams had great road records, too, except for Orlando.

point is, it is the teams with the best road records in the league who more often than not have the best records...not the other way around.

come on...that's true...that's why they say you "must protect home court" while the contending teams know how to win on the road.

Yeah, the Rox problem wasn't winning @ home; HOU was one of the better teams @ home in fact. It was their horrendous record on the road (and losing to very poor teams) that killed their chances to make the playoffs.

I have a question for everyone:

Was anyone else bothered by the fact that Les was at JVG's press conference and not Rudy's???

Yes but not much. I have come t expect that from him. Rudy was not his man never was and he was glad to be rid of him. JVG is exactly what he ordered.

He wasn't smoking. VG probably remembers that Mooch hit a game winning 3 at the buzzer to beat the Knicks in 2001-2002 (in Houston)

Yeah, I meant better road record. Typo on my part, thanks for catching it.

That Magic team was unbeatable at home (until Anderson choked on the FT line) yet horrid on the road, and I'm not sure why. Probably the inexperience of Shaq and Penny at the time - but they also had many vets to counterbalance that.

But I do know this - it's brought back all of the bad memories of losing that series for me!

The exercise, though, was to prove that it can be done without winning on the road, at least to a reasonable degree. It can't be done without winning at home, that much is certain. Take care of the necessities first, then work on the rest - and winning at home is the biggest necessity to even being in the title hunt.

Oh, and btw - the East's two best teams, NJ and Detroit, were both sub-.500 this season on the road. So were Minnesota and the Lakers, two of the West's better teams. Winning on the road may get you over the hump, yes, but like I mentioned - to even contend, you need to take care of business at home first.

you did not prove anything other than anamolies happen. Fact is, the team that beat Orlando also set the NBA record for the most road wins in a row in the playoffs.

so, what did you prove? The best road team won that year against the best home team.

First off, each of those teams you mention were 9 games off the pace set by the Spurs, Kings, Mavs. What was the major difference...not home record, but away records.

so this is about over the hump vs taking care of necessities. Remember what is said that you first argued with...please.

umkay...please retract what you are arguing with.

I said: Winning at home is about surviving; winning is about winning on the road

so please tell me why you are saying home wins are a necessity and disagreeing when I said home wins was about surviving?

You said it: home wins is surviving...road with is about getting over the hump and winning. That is exactly what I said in the first comment that you chose to argue with.

    mfclark...what is your point?

sigh, sorry mfclark. I have no edit privileges. I didn't mean please "retract" your points... I meant to type, please "retrack" the points I made.
