The best lines were when he was asked about his goal for next year given that we only missed the playoffs by a few games and he said the only worthwhile goal is a championship.
I was just glad he didn't say that we need to make the playoffs. More than anything it show his media savvy.
I missed the first half of the conference. Anyone know where I can find a recording of the whole thing, on the net or somewhere?
Not really, that puts you squarely 7 games back. Good in the low to middle 50s in wins, but not "very, very good." Last year, Sac, Dallas, Minn and Spurs dominated at home. Minn was 9 games back, because the others won 27, 24, and 27 road games, respectively.
for the record, dominating at home (no less than winning 75% of the games) and going ~.500 on the road would make us 51-31 that's 31 & 10 at home and 20-21 on the road. it's conceivable. ok, how about "very good" instead of "very, very good"?
http://www.dfw.net/~patricia/nba-daily/stand-final94-95.txt In 1994-1995, Orlando went 57-25 overall...39-2 at home and 18-23 on the road. That year, of course, Orlando lost in the finals to the Rockets. That's the kind of home dominance to strive for, except with a slightly better road record. That gets you 60 wins and a good shot at the finals. edit: changed home to road in next to last sentence
People in the Houston area will probably get another crack at seeing this via some local station. But if you are out of the Houston area and/or have DirecTV or Dish, etc., that has NBA.com TV channel, then watch it to see if it gets run there, because they covered it live beginning to end. They were giving at least an hour's warning that they were covering it in the trailer at the bottom of the screen while they were showing an old NBA game.
thank you! i basing 51 wins on winning 75% of our games at home. it's perfectly possible to win 80% of those games or more...
You must mean a better road record, unless you think this team is gonna be the '80s Boston Celtics suddenly
Don't u think we set the bar too high? A new coach, new system ... maybe a couple new players? Some people even predicted 38 wins next year! I think 50+ is great. Very hard to achieve. 47-49 is good. I would be happy. 43-46 is OK. I am OK with this but not estatic. Under 43 is bad. I will start some nasty threads about JVG.
Before any predictions, I just want to see how this team gels. Questions are going to arise: 1) Francis's play w/ Yao - Who's going to get the ball more? 2) Is there going to be more sharing of the ball? 3) Is there going to be chemistry on this team where there is consistent scoring and consistent defense? 4) Is JVG going to develop weak and beriddled Griffin into a man to fit that 4 spot? Those are questions I want answered throughout the season to see them soar to a 50 win season.
I expected so much more from you guys. A couple of quotes and that's it?, was this thing really short or what?
