Yes people still believe some version of this. They will attempt to back peddle when called out on it but there is a sense of "It isn't as bad as some want you to think".

Are you suggesting black people were enslaved 300 years ago because people were racist? I should remind you Chinese and Irish people were strongly looked down upon 200 years ago. They were beaten, abused and killed because of their heritage.

Africa was prime pickings because they were decentralized villages spread all over Africa. Unlike its Asian counterpart, we didnt have a huge history of Emperors conquering the entire continent and bringing it under a unifying ruler. Neighbor tribes capture each other for the sake of slave trading (hence POW). Africans were just as guilty of the slave trade as those who shipped them across the Atlantic.

We did not see a lot of Indians, middle-eastern and Asian slaves in the West because they were already conquered and enslaved for centuries. Slavery in India is still massive to this day.

Yeah I was wasting too much time here trying to have discussions with people like yourself who weren’t interested in having discussions. I don’t know why I even do it.

And go **** yourself for calling me a dipshit on the Internet. There is zero percent chance you talk like that to people in real life.

Sam, you’re a typical closed minded ******* who thinks he knows everything and only argues along partisan lines. When’s the last time you had a thought that disagreed with the basic MSNBC/DNC talking points? I can’t remember anytime you’ve said anything that didn’t originate from a partisan mouthpiece over there. You are a parrot. Well that is probably an insult to parrots and birds but whatever.

Also, I don’t think I ever said the investigation was a hoax either. I just said they needed to produce evidence which it doesn’t seem like they’ve done very much of that.

Last time I checked this investigation has been going on for a year and they’ve got a few people to plead guilty mostly for lying to the Feds. The big fish Manafort they charged is defending himself and we will see where that ends up. His stuff has to do with tax and bank fraud and Ukrainian stuff. Last time I checked Ukraine was not Russia. I guess we will give it another year and see what comes out.

Garbage. I didn't know you and bigotexx had so much in common. Good to know.

We need to incorporate your slavery hypothesis into lost cause myth. It never ends.

Whether the Slave trade happened because of racism is irrelevant here and it isn't a discussion I feel like having, but racism was bred out of it as the traders had to find some reason or excuse to justify their actions. A lot of this race psuedo-science that persists today came out of that.

Are we talking about slavery or just strongly looked down upon?

None of this I feel is even relevant to my point. We know that Africa was picked for slavery, my point is about its ripples through history, its effects on today, not about how it happened, but about how that specific form of slavery affects today.

The rape victim is just as guilty of the rape as the rapist? To say Africans were just as guilty ignores simple factoids like the English eventually being against Slavery. You act as if those old powers had no agency, no ability to tell if what they did was wrong or right. That hey, if they saw that they could exploit a situation then they just didn't have the moral obligation to stop themselves.

I honestly don't see the relevance or connection to the Transatlantic slave trade. To me, when people bring up these points they may as well be comparing WW2 to the Thirty Years Wars. They are both wars after all.

My point is that this specific instance of slavery bred a racism that holds today. It bred multiple excuses as to why these people belonged in bondage and these excuses then rippled out into Segregation, Civil Rights, Apartheid, etc etc and these excuses, this scientific racism, still exists today because of this Slavery. My proof is that Africa and Africans were seen differently before and after this incident.

    False

There were no “Africans” or “Blacks” as we use those terms today. Intellectually dishonest argument

LUL Wot? First, slave traders had only one reason to trade slaves: Money. They needed no other reason to justify. They would have enslaved any other race given the opportunity.

Secondly, slave traders were strongly looked down upon. Europe had no interest in having slaves and looked down upon it. However they were perfectly content in taking part in the cheap products the New World brought back to their continent.

Its no different today with Americans demanding equality and higher wages in the US but have no problem buying cheap China goods (like your iPhone) produced in work conditions that would be absolutely prohibited in the US.

Did you even read what you quoted? I know slave traders traded slaves for money. Please, read my post again, it looks like you didn't read it and are not understanding my point.

I said that "racism was bred out of it as the traders had to find some reason or excuse to justify their actions. A lot of this race psuedo-science that persists today came out of that."

You actually didn't counter this argument at all.

Again, I have little idea what this counters or why you brought it up. It doesn't absolve the morality of their decision.

You said that the Africans were EQUALLY at fault. You said that. My counter was that you act as if those powers did not have agency, that they could not tell bad from good. In fact, your second point ONLY backs mines up. That they knew what they were doing was horrible but still did it anyway....and again, they created the market.

If they didn't, then you will show me instances of these Africans that you are referring to sailing to the new world and directly selling their slaves.

Again, my argument is focused on the ripple effects of the Transatlantic trade and how it changed the way that many people in the world see 'black' people. That's all. I am focused on the ripple effects of the slavery and how it has affected the world up to today. Especially how many racist ideas were bred from it.

I really don't care about the "Slavery was all economics brah" argument, because that ish gets irrelevant. Tell me, were all of the injustices against black people in America post 1850 driven by economics?

I guess all the Democrats knew the results of this poll in advance so they knew to be upset about what a singer and dancer thought about slavery. Sounds legit. Watch twitter to see what the Dems are upset about tomorrow so you can know what stupid things will be said by John Legend on Saturday.

They are upset because one highly visible and popular runaway could embolden more to do the same and they haven't gotten their full 200 years yet that they paid for.

that is a pretty insane change. blows out all the BS about no one cares what Kanye says.

I think he is pilled out and marketing a product but he obviously has influence. Probably why there are calls to deplatform him.
