Again, that also assumes that Walton isn't fools gold either. I mean, are we really going to continue to judge the guy based on half a season with a well oiled Warriors machine?

A team is more than the big talent. The role players, management, and coaching all play a vital role. The lakers haven't shown much excellence in any of those other departments lately.

Because Basketcaseholic gives him a 5% chance of staying with the Rockets.

Agree, which is why I think the "he can make more money here" point is not a realistic one for the Rockets. I don't know that the last three years of that deal would be horrible, but I'd be worried as hell about the last two.

That said, don't you think that someone in the NBA would give him a max years/dollars deal? Would he chase that, if Morey et al decided to get cute with this negotiation?

It'll be interesting to see what specifics are in the deal that I think Paul will end up signing with the Rockets. I do think he'll sign here. I just wish I was as certain about it as many of you here, and pretty much all of the local sports media, seem to be.

He is going to get the max here
    Wants to play along harden
First year with the team and got 65 wins
Reached the conf finals and could've beat the warriors if he didn't get injured
    Best coach he had
Best organization he has ever been part of

Now why the **** would he leave ??

Name a team that will have over $35 + million a year to pay Paul that can win a championship. I'll hang up and listen.

    CP3 likes the system
    Likes D’Antoni
Seems comfortable with the franchise and city
Gets top dollar for at least the next 4 yrs
Harden takes a ton of pressure off his shoulders as a competent ball handler facilitator
No fear of being traded to Sac, Milwaukee, Cleveland as long as it’s big money to only Harden/Capela and CP3
Can see the core plus most of last years role players plus add-ons can kick any teams tail (win more than 65)

We have proven to the Warriors that we can beat them at Oakland. The important thing now is for us to stay healthy. There is nothing more important than that!

Yesterday I read in a report that Lonzo Ball has a torn meniscus in his knee. If LeBron goes there Kuzma, Ingram might get traded to the Cavs. Cavs is the only option right now for LeBron James.

I kind of feel like lebron might stay in cleveland. His kids are comfortable, it is the east, he loves his hometown.
Plus i think our concerns for chris paul would be everyone else's concerns. Health, age, all of that will play a factor.

I worry about giving CP the max and the enormity of the contract the final years.

Must find a competent 3rd ballhandler to rest CP even more next year if he is retained.

Think a lot will depend on if Capela stays and where Lebron goes to.

If Capela leaves, the argument of 'best shot at a championship' dies with it and depending on the who else is joining Lebron, that new team might be the top contender (of course Kemba might be an alternative for that team than an aging CP3)

I agree, but we also know that the Warriors are always trying to get better each year.

You are correct in about trying to maintain what we got, because this year the Warriors will feel what other
teams are experiencing. No discount by Durant will be a punch in the gut this summer......but they can get creative
with the removal of guys like Zaza and Nick Young for guys like Jamal Crawford and others. Who knows
if they could get Dwight Howard dirt cheap and they get him to abandon his post up game. That may
    actually help implode upon themselves.

Klay will get his money next summer or possibly move on. Warriors window may be closing soon.
Warriors team payroll is currently around $105 mil......that is before signing Durant to his max $

The same question can be asked of Lebron.

Best chances at a title plus familiarity

I'm not concerned about losing CP3, OP. He's already considered one of the greatest points in league history and is a sure 1st ballot Hall of Famer after he retires, in my opinion. He's made an absolute pile of money already and has lucrative ad deals, which weren't hurt by the move to Houston.

Paul lacks one thing. Getting to the Finals and playing for that ring. He's easily had the best playoff run of his career this past season. He knows we would have beaten GS without his injury late in game 5. Why on earth would he leave? I just don't see it.

I'll add that I don't see what LeBron has to do with Chris staying in Houston. Paul made his pitch to get him here. The chips will fall where they may, but Chris would have happily beat the hell out of Cleveland and James had fate allowed. My guess is that he's itching to get it on next season. He knows how close we were, and is looking to see what Morey will do. He'll be here regardless, in my opinion, and I'll be damned glad that he is.

If Lakers get Lebron and Kawhi, two of the league’s best 4 players, they’ll be a juggernaut next year, one more than capable of competing with HOU or GS
