If this happens I'm going to be so happy. Work in Boston and go home to Hong Kong for dinner...

The best way to travel between New York and Shanghai should be to take a helicopter. You see, New York and Shanghai are on the opposite sides of the planet Earth. If you take a helicopter and hover in the air for 12 hours, when you land, you should be in the other city since the earth makes a half spin every 12 hours. Safe and cheap. Why hasn't anyone thought of that? :)

    Uhh, sarcasm?

The air moves with the earth, so you wouldn't be going anywhere.

You guys need a new one. A smiley face is an obvious indication of a silly or sarcastic post. But no you're the only people smart enough to figure out a helicopter hovering in place won't go anywhere. LOL

I read a star wars novel and they had these. Then again the jedi got trapped by storm troopers melting the tube above and under him and he died.

    NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

lol. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say you're joking, but just to illustrate how nuts this is, the earth rotates at 1070 miles an hour, or 17.8 miles a minute, which by this logic would mean that every time someone jumped straight up in the air for a second, they'd land about 1/3 of a mile away.
