See, thats the ironic thing. The Magic would have a strong team in the East. PG - Francis SG - Mobley SF - Hill (if healthy and could alleviate some of Francis's ball handling duties) PF - Okafor C - Cato IMO, and hopefully im not fooling myself by trying to sugercoat things, they would be a solid playoff contender with that lineup.
I wouldnt go that far. And to be honest, Orlando's depth would be a lil thin. I don't think you can call them a division title contender, nor even a top 4 East contender. But they have just a good a shot at playoff spots 5-8 as anyone in the East. They would have great low post defense and rebounding. They would have a solid all around playmaker in Hill and good backcourt scoring. They get a couple of nice bench players and you could make the argument that they would be a playoff lock. Don't forget, that a Steve and Cat led team won over 40 games twice in the tough West before Yao came along.
i was being sarcastic i should have a smilie or something but I'd agree the Magic would be a playoff contender
Fried told reporters yesterday morning that Francis was unhappy with the proposed trade and that while the 6-3 point guard and three-time all star has nothing against the Magic organization, he wishes to continue to play for a playoff contender. Does they really talk like that? damn, Jerry Maguire ain't got shiat on agent Jeff Fried... and his right hand man, Nate Peak(Troy Barros?).. What a crew!
Francis' agents? Jeff are you kidding me? Francis can end all of that nonsense if he chooses to. His agents are not that powerful.
Yeah, but I've talked to a LOT of people who say his agents are ridiculous to deal with and that they often lead him in directions that Francis might not normally go. Supposedly they are extremly difficult to deal with.
Not exactly, but they seem to present different views... They don't seem to be working together ya know.. He's got a politician and an attorney.
Clutch, please delete my posts if it takes up too much bandwidth but this is my tribute to what Jeff Van Gundy must feel like & be going through in this whole soap opera... I think I heard Van Gundy singing the "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers as he was jogging in Southwest Houston this afternoon... ________________________________________________ On a warm summer's evening on a train bound for nowhere I met up with the gambler we were both too tired of sleep So we took turns at staring out the window at the darkness Till boredom overtook us, and he began to speak He said, Son, I've made my life out of reading people's faces And knowing what their cards were by the way they held their eyes (Hope you had fun at the Superbowl Steve) So if you don't mind my saying, I can see you're out of aces For a taste of your whiskey I'll give you some advice. So I handed him my bottle and he drank down my last swallow Then he bummed a cigarette and asked me for a light And the night got deathly quiet, and his face lost all expression Said, If you're gonna play the game, boy, ya gotta learn to play it right You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, Know when to walk away and know when to run. You never count your money when you're sitting at the table There'll be time enough for counting when the dealing's done Now Every gambler knows that the secret to surviving Is knowing what to throw away and knowing what to keep Cause every hand's a winner and every hand's a loser And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep. And when he'd finished speaking, he turned back towards the window Crushed out his cigarette and faded off to sleep And somewhere in the darkness the gambler, he broke even But in his final words I found an ace that I could keep You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em Know when to walk away and know when to run. You never count your money when you're sitting at the table There'll be time enough for counting ($$$ & NBA Championships) when the dealing's done. (On Thursday hopefully )
Hmm, the Magic come close to agreeing to a trade in principle, only to decide to "shop around" a little longer. I warned ya'll this might turn into Glen Grunwald 2.
I'm not suprised that the Magic would do this. They know that the best offers will come in at the last second. All the information yesterday was just to make teams get desperate and start making better offers. Orlando would be wise to atleast listen to them. Or maybe Orlando is just working out a deal with a 3rd team so Steve never has to step a foot over there. The suspence is driving me nuts!!
Geez, does Conan still air at 2 am or whatever nonsense in Houston? I remember when he had the Hilton furniture guy on the show.
12:30 now and he even has a personalized H-town commmercial that comes up and talks trash about Dallas
