My guess is it will spur the opposite reaction. If national security and intelligence agencies feel that a President who could compromise resources either deliberately or out of incompetence will likely be less inclined to be transparent.

If Biden classified the tp he wiped his butt with then a reporter could get in the hot seat for printing the details if he doesn't expose the leak under pressure.

The executive branch is responsible for classification. There has been an issue of over-classification for many years. The classification process was last reformed by President Obama. His EO reins in overclassification, accelerates declassification, requires that all classifications be declassified automatically after 25 years (except for weapons of mass destruction, human intelligence sources, war plans, etc.), requires agencies to review their classifications every five years, and establishes a national declassification center to facilitate interagency declassification. A document cannot also be classified to conceal a violation of law, an error, or to avoid embarrassment...

Probably what's still needed is an independent (non-political) agency under the DoJ that reviews classification regularly to ensure no abuse occurs and to ensure the public interest is balanced with national security. Oh, and also, make sure Christmas cards aren't classified en masse.

    Wow, that's gotta hurt ...

Judge puts Trump Organization's finances under oversight of independent monitor

A New York judge yesterday appointed a financial monitor to oversee the finances of the Trump Organization, which is in trouble for overstating its assets when securing loans for the big man and his cronies.

State Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron signed off on a preliminary injunction that also blocks former President Donald Trump's company from transferring assets without court approval. In his ruling, Engoron said the company must also make the monitor aware of all its holdings and assets and give 30 days' notice of any restructuring at the company and any plans for "disposing or refinancing of significant Trump Organization assets." (Supreme Court is the name of New York state's top trial court.)

Given "defendants' propensity to engage in persistent fraud, failure to grant such an injunction could result in extreme prejudice to the people of New York," he wrote.

There seems to be no doubt at all about what's going on. Trump already started a new business, named "Trump Organization 2", when yesterday's outcome loomed: it's a game between him and how fast the law can move, and he's seven decades in without it getting close.

    From the judge...

“OAG attaches dozens of exhibits that contain documentary evidence…that support OAG’s contention that it is likely to succeed on the merits. Conversely, defendants have failed to submit an iota of evidence, or an affidavit from anyone with personal knowledge, rebuting OAG’s comprehensive demonstration of persistent fraud.”

    Then...

The judge also blasted Don Trump, Jr. for signing his name to financial statements attesting that they adhered to generally accepted accounting principles, but then in his deposition later admitted that he had no idea what those principles were and had no recollection of even working with anyone on the statements that he had signed.

Ivanka Trump throws brothers and father under bus in New York fraud suit

Her defense team is arguing that she wasn’t responsible for fraudulent financial statements issued by the company will take more time to prepare.

In court documents, her attorneys argue that the fraud complaint filed last year against her and her co-defendants by New York AG Letitia James “does not contain a single allegation that
Ms. Trump directly or indirectly created, prepared, reviewed, or certified any of her father's financial statements”.

“Other individuals were responsible for those tasks,” her lawyers wrote, with the implication that her father and brothers may have committed the fraudulent acts.

    Trump is such a fraud.

New York AG’s office alleges Trump inflated his net worth by as much as $2.2 billion in 1 year

“Based on the undisputed evidence, no trial is required for the court to determine that defendants presented grossly and materially inflated asset values in the (statements of financial condition) and then used those SFCs repeatedly in business transactions to defraud banks and insurers,” the attorney general’s office wrote. “Notwithstanding defendants’ horde of 13 experts, at the end of the day, this is a documents case, and the documents leave no shred of doubt that Mr. Trump’s SFCs do not even remotely reflect the ‘estimated current value’ of his assets as they would trade between well-informed market participants.”

Only an idiot like Trump could defend his fraud with this defense...

Donald Trump defended his real estate empire and his presidency in a face-to-face clash with the New York attorney general suing him for fraud, testifying at a closed-door grilling in April that his company is flush with cash — and claiming he saved “millions of lives” by deterring nuclear war when he was president.

The transcript of his deposition is now out, and it’s incredible the amount of fraud involved. He admits to overvaluing properties, he claims he valued properties based on common sense, on future potential values and says he avoided having properties valued by independent auditors because it would take too long. Some values he inflated based on his claim that he could sell to the Saudis. And he blames others including his own kids.

I have it on the link above. It goes to show what a crock he is, but his cult will believe his slanderous lies, because they won't read it.
