6:35 PM, December 29, 2009 ι By MARC BERMAN DETROIT -- Mike D'Antoni acknowledged publicly for the first time the Knicks have interest in Tracy McGrady, saying the Rockets swingman feels he has plenty left in the tank and the issue is "an intriguing thing that will be evaluated in-depth.'' "It's a name Donnie (Walsh) I'm sure will analyze and look at and see if it makes sense,'' D'Antoni said at the morning shootaround at The Palace today. "I think you always have to be intrigued with someone like McGrady and Allen Iverson,'' D'Antoni added. "It's up to Donnie to evaluate it and sit down and talk about it and see what the other side of the coin is. I don't know what it entails. I'm sure the antennae goes up and there will be discussions.'' Now that McGrady's agent, Arn Tellem, is trying to broker a deal with other teams, D'Antoni was able to speak on T-Mac without fear of tampering. McGrady has been told to stay away from the Rockets until a deal can be hatched. McGrady played five games -- given limited minutes -- and complained about his playing time. Asked if McGrady still has a lot of left, D'Antoni said, "I think so. He's only 30 years old. He is coming back from injury so it might be next month but I would think he's not done yet.'' "I don't know if anyone knows for sure: 30 years old and the career he's had, battling back form microfracture surgery and you don't know where he is. It's an intriguing thing that will be evaluated in-depth.'' The Knicks would obviously love to swing a deal for McGrady if they can move Jared Jeffries' long-term contract to open more 2010 cap space. But the Rockets are looking at 2010's free agent class, too. A third team not interested in 2010 cap space would be needed in such a scenario to grab Jeffries, whose trade value has increased because of his stellar defense. The Knicks have scouted McGrady and D'Antoni has watched a few of his games. "Not bad,'' D'Antoni said. "but you couldn't get a good read when you only play six, seven minutes.'' http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/knicksblog/knicks_have_interest_in_mcgrady_8NDqmzYW7yVjsk2FtL3lAO
At this point, you would have to at least consider a deal of all expiring contracts, such as TMac and Dorsey for Darko, Cuttino (covered by insurance) and Nate.
NY sucks so bad that they will be a lottery team, next season too. The Rockets can take next year's unprotected 1st rounder from the Knicks. Rockets need to look at acquiring new potential superstars. Nobody is going to trade a healthy superstar for a broken down thirty-something T-Mac.
I dont think they can. Isnt the Knicks 2010 1st rounder owned by the Jazz, which would mean the next pick that they could trade is the 2012 pick. As it has been said b4 alot on this forum, the Knicks have nothing we want.
I forgot that you can't trade consecutive draft picks. Damn, NY really doesn't have anything that we want.
Nobody interested in Nate Robinson? I see a three team trade with the Rocks, Knick, and someone else. Maybe Golden State.
Where there is smoke...there is fire  I can see the Rox dealing with the Knicks but it will cost them so if D'Antoni is truly "intrigued" then they will have to lose either Gallinari or Lee along with 2012 1st rd pick+one of their crap contracts.
Rick Adelman intrigued by.....well no one on your team MDA. I guess NYK think the more this gets out there, the more it is likely to happen? We dont want Curry, Jefferies, Hughes or anyone else on your team. NEXT
McGrady for Darko, Mobley, and Nate Robinson makes sense for both sides...particularly if there's a third team involved.
