Knicks were lacking a dominant defensive center.
This is going to put them over the top to become a top three team in the East.

Without serviceable perimeter play, the Knicks have little chance to make the Finals. They need a distributor and floor general. I bet they end up with Steve Nash.

Chandler gives them 3 max players. Melo at $19M, Amare at $18M and Chandler at $14M. The total just for those 3 is $51M/yr and increases going forward.

    They are done.

Chauncey has already returned home to Denver. Wow, that didn't end well for a class guy

I wonder how they're going to acquire Paul then? A S&T wouldn't work for them next season but at least they'll be competing in the East. Don't think they'll be able to compete with the Celtics or Heat yet though. I won't be surprised if someone's injured out of the three next year though, just sayin.

Not only did they overpay, they chose a horrible player for Coach D'antoni's offnse. They were better off getting Robin Lopez for a quarter of that price. Chandelor just will not be able to run and do well in this offense as he is not quick minded, it is not a good fit and he got really overpaid for the campiionship run last year. More than anything, they need a quick pick and roll PG. Smart move by knicks Carmello for Paul

This would be a HORRIBLE signing for the Knicks. I thought they were getting him for cents-on-the-dollar, but at 14 M? With this guy's injury history and a lack of an offensive game, he won't really do much. Nor has he proven to do much apart from being on the same team as Dirk-Kidd-Peja.

Now if they got Nene it might have been different.

Best front court in the league IMO. Amare is not a great rebounder and he's not a great shotblocker, average defender. Chandler is great at all those things, he will clean up everything from Amare and Carmelo.

Too bad they have to lose Billups. Naturally I'm rooting for everyone to go East because I'm sick of the West being so stacked and the Heat need someone to keep them occupied.

Most injury prone frontcourt in the league as well. Great combination with D'Antoni's style of grinding his starters into the ground, especially during a shortened season. :)

Amare might be pissed but to be honest, I dont think any other team offered him 100 million dollars like the Knicks did. He really just took the biggest money deal there was.

BTW, I wonder if this is the beginning of the end for D'Antoni. Just doesnt look like a D'Antoni team at all.

    Nice!

He was a big piece for the Mavs last season, especially during their playoffs run.

    Mavs are gonna miss him!
