Date of last sports Championship: February 12, 2012 Date the prototype shuttle Enterprise was moved from Houston to New York: June 3, 2012 For a state that is used to sports domination, lets take a look and see how their teams have fared since stealing our shuttle. MLB The Yankees have spent over $1,700,000,000 in total salary since 2012 with no rings. NHL The Rangers/Islanders haven't won a division title since the 2011-2012 season... they are in the same division. NFL The Giants last division title was the 2011-2012 season, the same year they won the Super Bowl. The Jets last... I'll just stop there. NBA The Knicks haven't been in the playoffs in 6 years. The Brooklyn Nets have been bad to mediocre in the East. WNBA The NY Liberty have zero championships MLS The Red Bulls have zero championships. The same goes for New York City FC. Perhaps they should consider giving it back... https://www.change.org/p/intrepid-museum-return-the-nasa-space-shuttle-enterprise-to-houston
With the Yankees winning something like 27 world series titles, you are not going to get any sympathy from me about the "drought" of championships in New York. Obviously, some NY teams are worse than others (see the Jets and the Knicks) but they are in a market that along with LA gives them advantages over pretty much everyone else. Every year that goes by that a NY sports team has failed is a year that is a good year in sports, IMO. But they still win in the end because the media loves to talk about how the Jets have never won or this will be the year that the Yankees do this or whatever. It is the same crap with the Lakers but at least the Knicks are rarely ever discussed anymore.
I've lived in NYC also for a few years. Only close to Houston. I'd rather only visit Houston and its beautiful strip malls.
To each their own.... I am not a big fan of the nasty people in NYC and smell of fermenting garbage while I drink my $5 coffee and walk past lost tourists.
Perhaps if you make $250,000 a year it is amazing. Also, Paris and London are better if you are young..... I would even argue Chicago and a number of other places.
When there's enough **** to. Yeah, I'd choose NYC with a similar QoL arrangement, but I'd have to earn 1.5 times more for that to happen.
Currently living in NYC. Miss friends, family, and cheap living in Houston, but NYC has much more to do. Prefer London over NYC due to cheap and easy European travel. Oh, also miss Mexican/Tex-Mex.... I went to a 'Mexican' restaurant last weekend. It was fine (would be a flop in Houston), but they serve french fries with their burritos... ridiculous.
loved NYC while living there but don't miss it at all now. hated SF while living there and now miss it often. go figure
