Well its that time of year again. A new year and a new start to a new life. Rather than just do the obvious and state our New Years Resolutions, Im going to add something a little bit different. First of all, what were your New Years Resolutions for 2010 and did you keep them? Second, what are your New Years Resolutions for this year. (Im interested to see how many are the same.) I'll go first. For 2010 I wanted to get in better shape, drop about 30lbs and gain muscle, I also wanted to be debt free. One year later I have dropped 10 lbs and still in a bunch of debt. Needless to say this year my resolutions are: 1. Go to church more often and strengthen my relationship with God 2. Drop those pesky 20 lbs 3. Get out of debt What about you?
For 2010: -Stay in shape. Check -Read one non-fiction novel a week and one fiction novel another week. Check -Learn a new language (moderate fluency). Check For 2011: [in addition to above] -Watch a movie a week. -Eat at a new restaurant every week. -Learn how to speak, read, and write Farsi (Persian).
-- Give up Soda - I've done this before for over 2 years, recently started drinking again. -- Finish my last two semesters of university with a 4.0 -- Start working out after I take the PCAT -- Be able to dunk a volleyball like I used to a few years ago.
For 2010, my resolutions were to put on muscle and maintain a GOOD gpa in University. Check and Check. For 2011, it is to get my driver's license and save 400 per week from work.
Spoiler -work out harder -sell car/buy new one -learn a language -bring up my business revenue -spend more time with my family
who said i didn't I don't care about eating healthy as much as I do quit smoking. My diet isn't the best, but it's far from average.
Oh god how I hate this time of year. Everyone who wants to lose weight and join a gym... please do us regular gym-users a favor and just don't... just stay away. Jan. and Feb. are horrible times at the gym b/c of all the people with resolutions to lose weight using up all the equipment and making those of us who use the gym year-round have to wait longer for either cardio equipment or various weight lifting equipment (especially the bench press and dumbbells... luckily they stay away from the squat racks). please, just stay home and eat... or run outside!
i just wished the regulars used the squat rack for oh, i don't know, squatting? can't stand having to wait for some fool finish his curls.
I really feel like 2011 holds a lot of opportunities for growth. I would like to start investing, maybe even pass the Series 65 exam, which my boss and his partner are urging me to try. It's a longshot, but I have confidence now that I never had before. I want to focus more, especially on work, and quit smoking pot. I want to continue getting in the best shape of my life, and become stronger, faster, and improve my resting heart rate. Finally, I want to improve myself mentally, learn how to meditate deeply, live in the moment, and avoid negativity and cynicism. I'm optimistic for this year.
Just to be a better person and make the most out of life . I WISH EVERYONE ON THE BOARD A HAPPY AND SAFE NEW YEAR .
I wanna start smoking. Gain weight. drink moar booze. slack off in school. fist fight midgets. put more beans in my chili.
more gym time - must stay consistent! (lose 15 lbs) more reading less smoking less recreational drug use
In my case at least resolutions have always been made to be broken, so I don't do those anymore. I got sober for good last May and never looked back even once. It was the easiest thing I've ever done. I'm not even going to pretend to quit smoking again. I did it three times (a month at least each time) over the last year and a half and I'm done trying. Tonight will be my first sober NYE in literally decades and all I feel from that is relief. I used to like drinking and going out and having fun but the pressure to have fun on NYE always created anxiety in me and I won't miss that. I also won't miss all the amateur drinkers getting obnoxious in the bars and dangerous on the streets. Have your fun with that (but try to be safe), youngsters. I had mine. I'm through. Thought about getting tickets to the game just for a reason to leave the house (we could afford good seats and almost bought some on the floor) but then I thought, I love my house. And my pets. And my TV. And my girlfriend most of all. I'll be happier at home. She'll fall asleep before midnight for sure and I might too. And anyway, I must admit that apart from the playoffs I actually prefer watching the games on TV. The arena is so full of distractions and I find the crowds and the parking and the concessions and all the timeout/halftime entertainment to just be a big hassle. At home I can relax on my couch and rewind if I want to and use my own bathroom and eat and drink for free. I am clearly in my 40's now. How things change.
