Your diction implies that at second overall if he doesn't become Zion or Luka level it's a disappointment.

There is a lot to unpack there like not having a single clue how common those level players are in the draft.

99.9% of fans would be happy if their second overall pick became Devin Booker level.

No one thought that Green had Zion or Luka type ceiling entering the draft. If that was your expectation going into the draft then every team who selected that year is in for a major disappointment. Because Cade obviously isn't going to reach that. Mobley isn't. Barnes definitely isn't. Wagner isn't.

That's just crazy. Nothing I wrote implies that, and I don't think that. If you somehow got that out of my post then you misread it.

I do have a clue. They are very uncommon, that was my point. I brought them up as outliers. Like I said in the first post, there are rare cases where you know right away, like with the players I listed. However, in most cases, you don't know right away. That's where Jalen is, we're 100 games in, and we simply don't know.

You're right, nobody thought that. And neither did I. The first post you made, and the one I quoted, was that you thought it was "odd" that most people don't think Jalen is a superstar in the making. As if people are wrong for saying that there's a lot of uncertainty about whether or not he will get there. So I'll ask again, what do you think is the likelihood that Jalen Green becomes a superstar? A perennial all star, all nba, big time player on a championship contender?

Maybe this is just a case of imprecise language and not directly addressing the posters I'm referring to but my comment was mainly a reply to a poster like Dakato literally saying he doesn't see any POTENTIAL superstars on the roster.

So ya there is a massive difference in saying that Green has a greater than 50% chance at being a superstar and that Green doesn't even have potential to be one.

I'm not going to place a percentage chance of whether Green becomes a superstar or not. But what I will say is that it's absurd to think that Green doesn't have the potential to be one.

It sounds like we agree then. We don't have a "this is the guy" yet, but we have a few "this guy could be the guy" on the roster and we're hoping they get there. And for sure it's absurd to act like Green is at "this guy is not the guy" already.

Well, the core of dynasties, perennial winning teams do look differently from cores of mediocre teams.

You would see that the players fit the system better or are more mature, consistent in their performance.

We mostly discuss talent level but I throw consistency, integrity, leadership, a good fit into all of these.

DD has to downplay green because of his kpj stance so don't take it too seriously, obviously it's laughable

I support the Hard Core 4. Sengun just plays winning basketball and makes everyone around him better in the process. KPJ could be our Jordan Poole if he'd be willing to accept the role.

DD you said KPJ was as good a prospect as Green. I’m confused by your list. ;)

I think our chance at a top pick in 2023 may be the most important given the generational talent in this draft.

Of our existing roster I think it’s clear that Green, Jabari and Sengun have the most potential. I think KPJ has the talent to be great, but not in his current role. He’s a versatile player but he has no future on the Rockets if he won’t be more of a team-first player. He’s only a core player if he plays the majority of his minutes off the ball.

The other guy I’d hold onto is Tari. His motor is not natural. If he takes a step next year he’ll be untouchable.

I think KJ, Garuba, Christopher, and TyTy are damn good prospects, but i don’t see a future on the team for KJ. The other 3 haven’t gotten enough playing time to know how good they are, but are obviously not untouchable.

I like Tate, Tari and KPJ holding down the 3 spot. Can’t believe EG is still on the roster.

    happy new year!

The team is going to invest heavily in any top 5ish picks because those are the ones that are nearly impossible to get through trade or free agency.

So, the Rockets would say Jalen, Jabari, and 2023 pick. Anyone else will have to have a major breakout star type season for the rockets to start shaping the team around them.

I think most people are hoping we get the #1 or #2 pick this year because even if our current guys develop well, they don't seem to be the generational talents that guarantee a championship at some point.

I get the feeling Jalen can develop into a good #2 option and Jabari can be a 3 and D monster. But, ideally, they're led by an obvious superstar.

No one thought Tatum was a generational talent when he got drafted and it looks like he will lead at least one team in his career to a ring. I'm pretty confident in that.

Green was a higher rated prospect than Tatum going into the league and it isn't like Green started off worse than Tatum in their respective NBA careers.

JESUS ****ING CHRIST - that is not even remotely true.....I like them both.....I would like my number 2 pick to be a SUPERSTAR but I am ok with where a 20 year old Green is right now.

The trade things are about roster management I am sorry that some people are not sharp enough to realize it is not hate, but rather looking for the team to get better.
