thanks for the pics all. newgirl: thanks for the game insite! I hope you are able to post some of your pics.
Newgirl, do you think yao was at his ideal size last year? windandsea, any idea how many shots yao took?
Looking at the pics, i just can't believe the overweight thing. A good center in the NBA needs to either (i) have a crapload of muscle (think David Robinson, Hakeem did somewhat, Kevin Willis, Dikembe, Mourning, etc.) or (ii) have a lot of body mass (think Shaq, Patrick Ewing, a player like Elton Brand, Brad Miller, etc.). This is not to say those in category two aren't strong, just in a different way. Yao, imo, will clearly never be in category 1. The pics make him look like he's in perfect weight for category 2. Sure, you can go overboard and become a Oliver Miller, or even be effective like Shaq, but still overweight. The pics don't look like that at all, though, and I think Yao knows it. H eunderstands he needs to get his conditioning back, but that doesn't necessarily mean lose the weight. He knows first hand the banging he took - we don't.
lol...that's what I was thinking. He is UGLY. And lol.....how come the team playing China has some 40 year old guy? Is he the coach?
how in anyone's right mind would conclude from looking at the new pictures that Yao is fat? He looks great, toned upperbody, huge legs. if he is slow and fatigued its because the dude hasn't stopped playing since he was fifteen; Yao come back to Houston, chill, eat more, lift weights...and chill some more!
That's what I'am thinking. Yao does not look fat, he looks to be in his ideal weight. Should he lose the weight if he becomes slower or should he keep it if he becomes stronger in the paint?
Hmm, this dude is practicing the patented "Karl Malone's sharp elbow to the ribs" move. And. . . A little Chinese kungfu move won't hurt.
