We can always whine about that. As stated before, I don't really think this rumor is all that credible. The information isn't crazy (excluding SoC), so it could be true, but there has been more credible information saying "always online." Not-crazy-but-not-credible vs crazy-but-credible. I say if you believed 100% that MS was going to do this before, you probably still believe it now. As I've always said, the rumors certainly point one direction, but I find it hard to believe MS would actually do it (especially given the backlash).
I've never understood how the used market as it currently exists survives now. Used games usually are only 10% less at GameStop. I only buy them if the game has quit being produced or I buy 2 get one free. Hate used games. I certainly think the market should exist however.
problem is you're only thinking gamestop supplies used games. I purchase used games through craigslist only. For me it's a benefit cause 1. it is cheaper than what the stores sell it and 2. no sales tax and 3. the original buyer gets compensated for his original purchase. I then sell it after enjoying it. Of course I won't get same value (rarely if the game is very good), but otherwise i sell it at about $10 cheaper. And developers don't only want the used market to go away. They want the exchange of games to stop as well. I'm usually borrowing my friends NBA once a month to play a few nights. The money doesn't go to the developer. Frankly, they are being cheap. They make ****ty ass games, and expect to get the full moneys worth. Then they have to patch it or force DLC to get the extra benefit. Make the games cost less, and the incentive to go to used games is significantly lower.
Developers need to know that DRM and Always-Online practices will no longer be tolerated IMO so people should continue to 'Whine' about it. It's not like anyone is putting these guys in prison. Most of us are saying that if they go this route then they will not buy. There is nothing wrong with saying this.
It seems the next iteration of xbox will be unveiled tomorrow. Rumors say the console will be named xbox infinity. I like it! I'm excited to hear more about whats in store for next gen gaming. You can watch live on Spike Tv at 12:00 or online at IGN.com.
Feel like it will be more about multimedia and gimmicky ish for casual gamers and families, but would like to be proven wrong. Right now I'm heavily leaning towards PS4 but let's see what MS got in store.
