I officially went to Win7 RC today. I have been on Win XP PRO since 2003 ish. Finally made the jump, and WOW. I love it.

I hated Vista on my laptop. Put Win7 on my desktop, and it's amazing! Might try it on the lappy instead of Vista when my copy gets here.

I jumped on the preorder specials from microsoft today. Got Win7 for $49 on newegg.com

I recently tried Windows 7 (installed it last week), and I really like it too. Of course, I never really had that much of a problem with Vista (until recently anyway). I had been running Linux (Ubuntu) primarily for the past few years, and while I like a few things it does better, I could see myself switching back to Windows with this OS. Although since I want to play PC games, I was probably going to switch anyway.

My only problem is that I don't know whether I want to do the upgrade deal, or take advantage of the offer involving new PCs. I was thinking about getting a new PC in the next 6 months or so.

Yeah. Loving my Windows 7 64bit Build 7100. Vista was a pain in the ass. Running with nvidia driver 190.15 and games are totally smooth!!

I just pre-ordered Windows 7 from Amazon. My lap top right now has the 32bit version of Vista. I'm wondering when I install Windows 7, if I'll have an option for installing the 64bit version?

What is so great about Windows 7? And why would I want to upgrade from XP?

ohhh.. just learned a pretty cool trick.

open up more than one tab on I.E. 8. then minimize it. mouse over the icon on the task bar and you'll see all the tabs screens... and you can temparily see the screens maximized by moving over between the mini screens.

download it and try it. it's like a refined version of xp. the difference is like a toyota and a lexus. they both get the job done, but the win 7 experience is much nicer. you get things like widgets, auro, a more functional taskbar... etc. also, the support for dual processors is much better than xp's.

it's also been pretty rock solid and faster than vista, because unlike the latter, MS decided not to put in xp comptibality code. instead, they used an emulator for legacy software.

So the cheapest way to get WIN7 is to buy the Upgrade for $49? but is that a one time upgrade from my XP ... what happen if I need to reinstall my window lets say later on?

i'm not sure. maybe you just need the xp serial along with win7's. if not use symantec's ghost. it's a good backup tool.

Hmm, it seems my comp crashes when I'm away. I wonder if it was because it makes my computer go to standby after an hour.

I took off the auto sleep option, will see if that fixes it.

That would be desired. I got rid of my XP pro install, and am using the RC7 right now. Would be nice if I didn't have to reinstall my XP just to upgrade to Win7 lol.
