Hey Jeff, do you know any good sites for learning Java and Flash, or even HTML. Java looks sort of weird...did you just copy and paste applets with some modifying or did you write it all yourself?
Once again, guys, thanks so much for the comments and suggestions. The site is finally up live at http://www.friendsofhpl.org/ . You guys get a big assist. First, those aren't applets (that sounds like a dirty joke! ). I assume you are referring to the rollover graphics on the left side navigation bar. Those are actually Java<i>Script</i>s. Java is a stand-along programming language. JavaScript is a scripting language that extends the capabilities of HTML. These particular scripts were generated by Dreamweaver because it is faster but I have done them on my own before. I'm just not terribly quick at scripting. Maybe the best way to create rollovers is using Adobe Image Ready which is part of the Photoshop suite. For rollovers and animated gif's, it is the best. As for learning, there are lots of online places to go to learn it. Do a search in Yahoo for HTML tutorials. For Flash, you cannot beat Macromedia University. Flash lessons with graphics and spoken word or even instructor-driven online classes. It is a couple hundred bucks per year but it is worth it. I have learned a TON. Java is something I do not understand. Programming is not my strong suit. Thanks again.
