Forget the gold. Red and White, yes. But, that Red with Gold mix was ugly. I'd rather have Red and White. With a little silver.
Their present jerseys are exciting!! Those burgundy and yellow jerseys looked so boring. This is 2003! Have some color and make the uniforms our players wear look very energetic This is the 2nd youngest team in the league, we're not old school anymore.
Ummmm ... we had a feedback page on rockets.com last season that did just that. And we're using the information we got there to create the new uniform. Where were you when we needed you? The page got a ton of responses, and we posted selections from the responses all summer. While there was a definite contingent supporting red and gold, it wasn't a majority. The most common feedback was for a red and silver or blue and silver or red, blue, and silver color palette. Those who didn't like red and gold used words like "heinous" -- and, to be honest, if you go back and look at comments that were made about the red and gold uniform at the time they were the team colors, they weren't very positive. As to the reason for the late summer timing -- (1) we're not done with the design yet, and (2) the timing allows for Reebok to produce enough quantity for retail. We want people to be able to buy a jersey when we reveal them. One thing I can leak -- we won't be going back to the green and gold San Diego Rockets retro look with the Little Caesar's looking guy on the logo. But we will be giving out t-shirts commemorating the original Rockets logo on March 16 vs. Phoenix. That logo is special in it's own special freaky way, and the shirts are actually very cool. We'll have pics of it on the site in a few days. Tim
Thanks Tim. Sounds like the unis are being thought out this time. Finally we can have 4 teams that have uniforms that can actually be marketed world wide. Unis that actually look sharp! Not like our checkered "tacky" past... 80's Astro's unis designed by Mickey "gimme a beer" Gilley (Heehaw!). 90/00's Rockets *current* unis designed by Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus (Crusty the Clown's Pajamas). 80/90's Oilers unis designed by Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder Co. (I liked baby-blue when I was 3).
Thanks 4 the info Tim! I can't wait 2 see the new ROX's uni! I hope it will be awesome!!! The colors silver, red , & blue seems cool, however, I hope that the player's number on the front is larger & in the center rather than that silly small one that the current uni have!!! Anyway, take care Tim & please keep us fans informed!!
