Larry Hughes was a pretty good defender in Cleveland his best defense was in Washington though. Larry Hughes is just a junkie offensive player unless he is playing in a certain system like he was in the Wizards. He probably won't fit in well offensively because we have a grind it out offense, but he would do well defensively and bring in toughness too. Larry Hughes ain't no marshmellow.
Real GM at least has the salaries working. Didnt let me choose who gets who though, like ESPN trade machine http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5015494 Anyone that likes Michael Redd or Gilbert Arenas, Ben Gordon would do a good impression of them. Larry Hughes & Ben Gordon backcourt is more potent than Rafer & McGrady. I still dont like that trade for some reason...
He has a website dedicated to him called pleasedon'tshootlarryhughes.com. Does that scream "good shooter to you"? Horrible horrible trade. We lock ourselves up with Hughe's albatross contract and Gordon will either be overpaid if he stays with us or will bolt of free agency leaving us with nothing. Maybe if they add Tyrus Thomas or replace Hughes with Deng we've got a deal
Yep, if PHX added Barbosa coming to the Rockets in this deal I would have to seriously think about it... Hughes would at least be playing, unlike T-Mac, and his $14M would come off the books for 2010. Gordon would essentially be a 1/2 year rental, ala Artest. Gordon at $6.4M and Artest at $7.4M ($13.8M total) would both come off the books for 2009. And Barbosa we would have for 2 1/2 years for between $8-9M, which would be fine by me. If we stood pat for FA, summer of 2009 with this trade, we would have approx. $28M to spend for FA, summer 2010. Skip's, Hayes' and Barry's deals would also expire in 2010 giving us an additional $10-11M on top of that, for a grand total of approx. $39M under the cap. This is important because we need to resign our other FAs whose deals also expire in 2010: Brooks, Landry, and Scola.
+1. The dude couldn't even play with Lebron James, what makes you think he'll function well in our system? He'd be like an overpaid Alston who lacks his court vision and playmaking skills. He's also perpetually injured lol
This trade isn't going to happen due to the salaries unless Suns dump another player, but to be fair, all 3 of these teams win. I mean the Rockets do get rid of McGrady for 2 pretty good players, they are not scrubs. Well Gordon isn't. Suns get Tyrus Thomas in return a young player similar to Stoudemire but is able to play defense, they get T-Mac for salary dump. Bulls get Amare, they need an interior scorer Rockets get Gordon and Hughes, One who is an excellent scorer in the league and one who is an above average defender in this league. None of these teams get worse, except possibly the Suns.
I don't think you guys understand that even if the Rockets get Larry Hughes, he probably isn't going to play much anyways. Rockets just need to match salaries and Larry Hughes is the only way to do it. Only reason why I like this trade is simply because of Ben Gordon, he's already the all-time leader in 3's made for the Bulls and That's real too. He's a proven scorer and he is efficient at it. He brings energy off the bench and Ron Artest can start if Ben Gordon is on this team. Ben Gordon and Von Wafer would come off the bench, Wafer would probably have to move to the 3 spot though. Larry Hughes may be a garbage player, but at least he is an active player and he isn't injured all the time. That's not the same case for T-Mac. Gordon is the guy I want on the Rockets, Could careless about Hughes. Just dump T-Mac.
-1 +1 Amare's contract is up same time as Tmac, so shouldnt be called a salary dump. Now they might be playing the chance card at Tmac micro surgery career ending move if and I stress IF that happens in which they can retire him. Suns do get worse in this trade, already posted that.
Tyrus Thomas this season has proven that he's actually not a bust in this league since he was drafted during the lottery. He plays a lot of defense and brings a lot of energy. He can hit that mid-range jumper, can finish, but mainly he can play defense and is tough, he is also willing to rebound. I can tell you this, If you put Tyrus earlier this season instead of Amare and Terry Porter was coaching, Suns would be possible contenders because the offense would be ran through Shaq.
Houston gets Ben Gordon, L. Barbosa, and Kirk Hinrich Phoenix gets Tyrus Thomas and T-Mac Chicago gets A. Stoudemire
Someone already mentioned this but it bears repeating: If Ben Gordon is traded, he loses his Bird rights. I know this is a business but that says a lot right there. Chicago would need to stoop pretty low to take that big of a crap on Ben Gordon. Phoenix needs to do one of two things: dump salary or suck it up and compete with what they have. They're already losing money and respect; they don't need to exacerbate things.
see i was with you on dumping tmac and getting a guy like gordon, but when you say hughes is at least an active player that's healthy, that's the most false statement I've ever heard. he's played LESS games than tmac THIS SEASON, he played UNDER 70 the previous season, he played 70 the season before and he played 36 GAMES THE SEASON BEFORE. He's more injury prone than tmac, mcgrady for as bad as he is, that bucks game he put up is a NORMAL game for hughes....he SUCKS, he's a negative, lol.. and gordon is FA, he'll bolt for the most money, ppl have to keep that in mind. the same reason ppl/organization wants to trade artest. gordon is nice, but he's undersized and can be streaky at times. and for whoever he said he was the best player on a team that advanced, LMFAO. NO, that was a team effort, guys like hinrich, deng were all more important on that team, not gordon...wow...sometimes guys got to watch the games rather than jackin to the stats.
The only reason why Larry Hughes isn't playing this season is because his coach and his team asked him not too. He's just not an active player, it doesn't mean he's hurt or anything like that. He would be ready to play any game if he was asked too. He's just not happy with his situation in Chicago. By the way, Nobody in the league is more injury prone than T-Mac anymore.
And because of that, Ben Gordon has to APPROVE the trade. Would Gordon approve a trade that will cost him his bird rights? I would love to have Gordon, but I can't see him making that sacrifice to join the Rockets now.
Hughes doesn't want to play if he's coming off the bench. That's why he demanded a trade. Larry Hughes is a cancer.
