Welcome to DFW. There are quite a few of us transplants here. Las Colinas is cool for single 20-somethings-early 30-somethings. Frisco is just too crowded. I prefer to stay on the Fort Worth side of the metroplex - people are friendlier and its more like Houston than Dallas. As far as broadcasts, you'll be able see all the Astros games on Root Sports, about 1/2 of the Texans games on Fox and CBS, but only the Rockets nationally televised games unless you spring for the league pass. Make sure to join our Facebook group for DFW area Rockets fans here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/DFWRocketsFans You'll see the Rockets Nationalized TV schedule pinned at the top. As a group, we're usually more active in the spring and around the playoffs - thats when we're likely to meet to watch the games. Last year we had anywhere from 6-35 people watching <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ATc9VjlHsFI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Frisco ain't bad. I live in the Lewisville/Colony/Carrolton area where Toyota is building their HQ. If you're looking to buy a house be prepared to bend over and grab ankles
Spent my college years in DFW area, then moved to Mockingbird and 75/Central Expressway when I landed my first job out of college. Douche heaven! Transferred in less than a year back to Houston. Fun while it lasted but Dallas is full of $40k millionaires and pretentious losers. Areas outside of Dallas are much friendlier and down to earth. Another problem was how spread out everything was. But Las Colinas is a pretty good central location, although visiting someone in Frisco or Plano would still be a pain in the ass. Not saying you won't enjoy North Texas, but just wanted to point out the negatives since I personally dealt with them
Thanks guys for all the support! It'll be a process downsizing and leaving the only city I've ever known.
Well I was forced to move to DFW for the wife's job, and mine as well a few years ago. I travel alot for work so its a pretty convenient place to live being right by DFW airport. Obviously its not Austin (one of my fav cities in the US not just TX) and in some ways its not even as cool as HTown, but the location isn't the worst in the world by far. If you live in DFW you gotta get out and travel though. Las Colinas.... I wouldn't pick it as a place to live in the metroplex, but it is nice & new. Great place to work at, and commute to, but there isn't much going on in that area. Its a nice area, and you are close to Gas Monkey (if you watch the show Fast & Loud), but other than that, I prefer living elsewhere. Any areas you want to know about, or anything else, just let me know.
Hey Dobro, are you the guy from the North FW area that came out to watch a game with us once a couple of years ago? Make sure to join our FB group (linked a few posts above)
There's only like 4 in Austin! There's about 20 in the DFW area ... unless you consider Dallas part of Oklahoma. Of course I understand, then. Damn, Houston doesn't seem to have any? I thought there were posts a while back about one or two being built.
______ First Robin, then LCAhmed ... why do good people get seduced by the dark side? No offense to any of my homies in the DFW area, but ... Spoiler I wish you well LCAhmed, you're going to be around a LOT of cry babies!!! ....... ....... .......
Half my Facebook friends list is from Houston, the other half is from DFW , and I can honestly say that I never see Anti-Texans stuff posted, but I see a LOT of anti-Cowboys stuff posted. It actually annoys me because how can I keep saying that Houston people are classier than Dallas people when our fans are the ones taking the low road by posting the anti-other team stuff.
Huge mistake! Houston fans are not more/less anything. I consider YOU my homie and I hope I didn't offend YOU! From your post it sounds as if you're also a Texans Fan, which if true, makes you twice as like-able in my eyes! I've come across many rude and arrogant Cowboy fans in my years, so my view towards them has been molded over a long period of time(I know I'm generalizing). Not proud of taking the low road, BUT, I am feeling a little giddy for doing it. Suggestion: Take this with a grain of salt, but, I would cease telling your Dallas friends that we are classier, I can't imagine it sitting very well with them. ....... ....... .......
Thanks bro! LOL Thanks man. I'll be back in the H every so often. And I'll be sure to rub in all the Houston wins whenever I can. Moved into my new place, people have been pretty friendly so far.
