    That's the real problem.

Thing is, with Vandermeer when he DOES talk about basketball, it is entertaining. He doesn't have the grasp on the NBA like some do, but the guy moves a show along and is fun to listen to.

Wrong - Clear Channel is STILL a founding investor in XM even though their $age of ownership has fallen since so many new shares have been issued/sold.

Doesn't change the fact they they have their fat hands in it.

    Go Sirius.

I've made the swith to The Don and Mike Show on 650. They have the best rapport in radio. Not exactly filled with a lot of sports talk but I like it.

I will never listen to a Vandy/Rich show unless I know a guest is on that I want to hear.

Vandy lost me a couple of weeks ago when he said something along the lines that a Texans Super Bowl win or an Astros World Series win would mean more than a Rockets championship win.

He wasn't around here and has no idea how pumped this city was at the time.

    Chance,

I'd love to hear how many games the 610 hosts have been to this year.

Marc's been to 1 Rox game. Matt's been to every one. Rich has been to 1. LZ 2, JG 1, Fizzle 2, DD 2. rob & danny have probably been to all of them.

I refuse to make up excuses for these guys...they should go more. I am about the biggest Rockets fan on earth and am encouraging our station to do much, and I mean MUCH, more with my Rockets. There have been some positive changes this season...The JVG show for starters...and there will be more once the Tex are done with their 6-10 season. Look for remote fan feedbacks, remotes from Toyota Center, Away game viewing parties, more tape, more reports, and more NBA action as the season progresses. These things will be implemented in the weeks to come.

Incidentally I mentioned I am a huge Rockets fan and I agree with Marc's statement. A Texans SB win would be historic and unfathomable. An Astros WS (with The Rocket) would motivate this city like you have never seen...94-95 included. And either of these events would do more to put H-Town on the map than another WC in Clutch City. I think Charlie would agree.

He said that??? Jeez, what a moron. A World Series would mean more to me, but that's just me. I wouldn't presume the rest of the city would feel the same way. And the Rockets will always have a special place in my heart for being the team that finally got it done. Now I have developed such a loathing for Vaindy that I find it hard to develop an emotional attachment to the Texans.

I'd be willing to take those extra 610 press passes you guys aren't using. ;)

"Marc's been to 1 Rox game. Matt's been to every one. Rich has been to 1. LZ 2, JG 1, Fizzle 2, DD 2. rob & danny have probably been to all of them."

Matt's got a sweet gig. Go to every rockets home game then talk about it for an hour afterward.

On another note, I've been to just as many games as Rich, Marc, and Granato, and I'll probably be going to my 2nd game in 2 week (Boki bobblehead night!)

And Chance hasn't said that Fizzle doesn't have a show. Could it be? Haha. 'The J Fizzle at Five in the "Ay Em" Karaoke Show'

It'd fit with the other insanely long Radio show names.

"John, Lance and the Sportsradio 610 Morning Crew"
"Rich, _____ and the Sportsradio 610 Drive Time Players"
"The J Fizzle At Five In the "Ay Em" Karaoke Show"

It's even shorter thant he other ones

    Chance,

Why don't you guys have any Rockets on on a regular basis? Are they asking for too much $$ or are they just unreliable?

Good job. To have only been to 1 or 2 games and then to pretend that you are going to discuss it intellegently on the radio is crazy.

I agree with Faos on the players, but also what about Feigen? He used to have a semi-regular thing a la Kevin Bass or John McLain. What about a national guy or even someone from the fans perspective?

    Keep up the good work.

No...650 blows in that aspect. They actually sign off a dark. Then you can pick up 650 out of Nashville (country music, of course).

JVG has an irregular schedule but he's on every week, albeit no set time or day.

Not having Rockets players on was not about $$$. We would LOVE to have them on but Kam's right about the schedule. Coach wants the players concentrating on playing...not doing a radio show. Ultimately fans are happier with W's than banter.

650 is a daytimer and we protect a station in Nashville at night. It does suck. It's an archaic system that pays no heed to market size or penetration. The licenses are given out on a first come, first serve basis and those hillbillies got the signal in the 40's.

All of our jocks (JG, MV, LZ, RL, CP?) Tivo every game and watch them, study them, and keep notebooks to be able to chat up the game. West Coast games are tough on the morning guys and they don't usually get the 2nd half in. If only they started later...like an hour or so....hmmm....that could positively impact the amount of Rockets chatter.....

6:30...that makes it easier on my sleep if I want to listen to the whole show. You're going to be eliminating the crack w**** and hunter market though, Chance. You don't want that now do you?
