I like the "new" South Park better, actually. I quite dig a good satire, and I think it shows off more of Trey Parker and Matt Stone's genius. The part with the girls backstage was absolutely hilarious. The part when the Jonas brother said Hi and their moouths all popped open. Classic!
I actually thought season 12 was pretty decent overall. Didn't like this episode, though. Mickey Mouse was pretty damn funny, and so was Kenny dancing in the background near the beginning (you'll know what I mean if you watch it), but otherwise I pretty much didn't laugh at all.
Blasphemy. I won't assume your age, but when Simpsons first really got going, there are few things that compare. Its still one of my favorites. At least the old eps are. The thing with them though is, looking back they were a pretty family oriented program. Compared to the shows today, they are tame. Back then though, there was all type of contreversy because of them. Either way, without them, there is no Family Guy. They're kind of like the Wilt to Family Guy's/South Park's Shaq.
for their time they were funny, there was nothing like it. But compared to the other shows, it just isnt as funny. I liked the simpsons a lot more before I watched more FG, SP, and KOTH
I think Simpsons is #2 behind South Park. Family Guy is pretty funny, but comes off as absurdly formulaic when you've seen enough of it. Distant third, assuming it should even be in the conversation with South Park and Simpsons. I feel like a lot of Simpsons folks defend it partly because it was the only kid on the block for awhile. A few years ago, I just sat down and pretty much watched all the first three seasons, in order. Funny stuff, but just not as brilliant as South Park at its best is. The torch has been passed.
I can buy that. Its not really accurate to judge them head to head though unless your talking current eps. Its like the video game thread, you have to go by for their time. On a similar note, did anyone see the Cartoon Wars ep of South Park? They show how Family Guy comes up with their jokes. Pretty funny stuff. "You think thats bad, you remember that time I got that salmon helmet from Muhammed?"
Okay first episode. I wasn't overwhelmed by it, but Mickey and the whole Jonas Brothers bit was pretty funny. People defend The Simpsons because it literally defined the genre and was truly groundbreaking. I guess one can argue whether it's funnier than South Park or not. But in terms of impact South Park doesn't come close.
Wasn't bad. The first couple of Mickey "ha ha"'s had me smiling. Then they got annoying. Glad they have new episodes again.
South Park has lost all of it. Once Trey and Matt start making episodes like AWESOME-O again, South Park will be relevant again.
Dude, it's impossible for each and every episode to be the funniest one of all-time. Seems like every week there are people talking about how it's fallen off and then oops another home run.
Where was the homerun last season? on in the previous 2? The only episode that was even funny was the Scott Malkinson one
Last season's Obama one was pretty decent. I knew they were going to make an episode about the election but never expected it to go that way. Also a couple of seasons ago the warcraft one was hilarious. I was playing the game at the time so it really connected with me because of that.
That one also won an award didn't it Anyways thanks for informing me that Southpark is back, haven't been watching much TV lately
I loved the easter special. There have been some episode which weren't great. But there is still a gem among the episodes every now and then. I still watch every episode not to miss the gems. I actually do not like the simpson (i never have), but maybe that s because i never watched many episodes, but every time i watch an episode it is ok, but never great. Family guy on the other hand I just do not find funny at all.
^Classic... I loved this episode...reminded me of the old SP...so many great parts...TGI Friday's anyone?
