Compare the Rockets on this roster now to the old school players that use to wear a Rockets uniform.

Like I say Aaron Brooks is like Calvin Murphy because both guys are small, quick and both have a sweet jumpshot.

Choose any player that is on our roster now and compare them to anyone that used to play for this Rockets team.

I just think this would be fun to see how everyone's knowledge of different old school Rockets players. :)

I don't know about this because basketball evolved during the years.
Players athleticism evolved during the years so it's incomparable.

But... you can compare achievements and old school Rockets win by landslide.

Pops is like Dream, both guys are tall, strong, quick and both can rebound.

Old School will always win, that's what I've learned in these comparisons. New school never wins.

Brooks - Murphy is the one that comes to mind. After that, it's hard to find a good comparison.

I mean, Battier is liked a vastly improved version of Ryan Bowen, plus the 3-point range.

Similarly, you could say Scola is a much improved version of Juwan Howard.

Kyle Lowry reminds me somewhat of Steve Francis.

    Chase Budinger .... Boki Nachbar?

I think Battier is a closer comparison to Mario Elie.

Elie was a great one-on-one defender and a good three point shooter ('Kiss of Death')...

Most of the current players haven't established themselves and their games enough to be compared to the past players.

Also, Scola's, and probably Hayes', skill set is sort of unique to them. It would be tough to compare them to any players, Rockets or otherwise.

That just might be because OLD School has 30+ years of players to draw from, including at least 5 Hall of Famers.

Except there is a good probability that Pops won't make the team.

How about Trevor Ariza and Robert Horry, when he was young obviously. I know it's a little bit on the edge, but so is T-Mac with Clyde. Clyde was so much better on defense.

Aaron Brooks is no where close to the player that Calvin Murphy was. We're talking a Hall of Famer. They are both short... nice observation. Does Aaron Brooks twirl?

Budinger is white with curly hair, so I guess that makes him the next Larry Bird.

Murphy once averaged 25 a game in the '77-'78 season. I doubt we'll see that from Aaron. Other seasons' big stats are 7.4 APG during '73-'74 and 95.8% FT made during '80-'81.

I'd submit Calvin Murphy is closer to Chris Paul than Aaron Brooks.
