oops S&H is free at deep discount dvd. so $31 isn't that bad. but i'd still want it now. i'm impatient.
does anyone have a link to the box set? the only link in this thread is for the first championship season, not both...unless my reading comprehension has regressed. i wouldn't rule that out either lol.
make sure u tell them what the price is. the CC website and their store prices are somtimes inconsistent. i still remember last year when i bought 24 season 4. on the webiste it said something like 39.99....and in the store it was 49.99.......after a good 10 mintue long dispute they finally gave it to me for 39.99. those bastards
just the games against the knicks http://entertainment.circuitcity.co...=HOUSTON+ROCKETS&sec=All+Movies&catOid=-13219 remember deepdiscountdvd is the cheapest, but if you want it know i think CC is the way to go. Best buy could have it for a cheaper price as well, but the website is advertising it for more. just check tmorrow if you have the time
here's an expanded description on what is on the 8 dvd set. if the sales are good, maybe they'll release the 2nd championship run on dvd! make it happen people!
got mine this morning at 11am....watched the first qtr only of the 1st game... not bad...pretty good quality, i think better than vhs
It's a shame they didn't include some other games from their 1994 playoff run: Game 3 in Phoenix where Mad Max went nutz in the 2nd half and saved the Rockets from a sweep. Game 7 against Phoenix where Dream destroyed the Suns and Cassell first emerged as a clutch playoff performer. Game 2 against Utah where Dream brought out his teammates to help him accept the MVP award followed by him and Karl Malone exchanging baskets in the 4th quarter before Elie put it away. Game 5 against Utah where the Rockets clinched the Western Conference Championship. I'd much rather see those games than the infamous "O.J. in the Bronco" game in the Finals(which the Rockets lost anyway).
about to finish watching game 1....they cut out the commercials and took different camera angles during the game that nbc normally doesnt use, mainly after timeouts... its cool how they have the box score on the cover of each dvd. nice touch. http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/r...do&state=albumId%3D24460.1404.1153844762859.1 definitely worth the money....i would even pay $100 for it
sorry double post....... but wouldnt it be tight if they did have the commericals. just for the reminder what life was like 12 years ago.....it would prolly be annyoing after a while fastforwarding, but it would be pretty cool the first time around...
Gift for Rockets Fans: 93-94 8 disc box set Link to article.. Fond memories of Clutch City Box set brings back the Rockets' triumphant wins By BRUCE WESTBROOK Copyright 2006 Houston Chronicle Champagne flows with tears of joy in Houston Rockets 1993-1994 NBA Champions — Clutch City, an eight-disc box set showcasing the city's first professional basketball championship. Each of its first seven discs has an entire NBC telecast (minus ads) of the bruising seven-game NBA Finals between the Rockets and New York Knicks. The eighth disc has the 48-minute Clutch City season recap first issued on VHS in '94. There's no original material, and a few elements are sliced off, including a country song from the end of Clutch City and some postgame footage after the Rockets won it all. Still, it's good to see these special finals preserved this way, even for those of us who recorded each game in '94 on now-aging VHS tapes. As a fan's sign at Game 7 said, "The first time is the sweetest." The set also is a fitting bookend to the recent Miami Heat 2005-2006 NBA Champions — 15 Strong. The Rockets DVD shows the bitter disappointment of Knicks coach Pat Riley in '94, while the Heat's discs show Riley's euphoria this year as he coached Miami to the title over the Dallas Mavericks. My chief quibble with the discs is a lack of scene selections or chapter stops. Each game is divided simply by quarters. If you want to zip straight to a thrilling finish, you must wade through almost an entire quarter using fast forward. Other than that, it's a remarkable series to watch, given the fierce defensive struggle and the near-dominance of Rockets center Hakeem Olajuwon (who also has his own DVD, Hakeem the Dream). Olajuwon became the first NBA player in history to be named MVP and defensive player of the year for the regular season, and MVP for the finals. But the unsung star of these finals was rookie Sam Cassell. He single-handedly bailed out the Rockets in the crucial Game 3 at Madison Square Garden, and his gutsy play was a spark throughout. And don't forget coach Rudy Tomjanovich, who focused his team's unity and determination throughout an arduous postseason that led to the city's first major basketball title. On June 22, 1994, by a final score of 90-84, he got it. bruce.westbrook@chron.com
