This one starts off great and then somewhere in the middle it falls apart once they try to switch it up, this same thing happens often on Radiohead songs...and I'm actually a Radiohead fan.
Daydreaming seems like a typical album-ender from Radiohead. Haunting and drawn out. But then, the whole album could be like this, so you never know. I'm pumped. Like what I'm hearing so far.
Very pleased with what I've heard so far. No band can keep me enthralled the way Radiohead does. I can just space.
Burn the Witch- phenomenal Daydreaming- okay but will see if it grows Burn the Witch has been around for a while so wonder if they put any other older songs onto the new album (IE Nude on In Rainbows which had been played since the 90's as Big Ideas) Either way...2 more days!!!! Super pumped.
Google Play accidentally released it an hour before the official release and have since removed it. The album is called A Moon Shaped Pool Tracklist: 01. Burn The Witch 02. Daydreaming 03. Decks Dark 04. Desert Island Disk 05. Ful Stop 06. Glass Eyes 07. Identikit 08. The Numbers 09. Present Tense 10. Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor Rich Man Poor Man Beggar Man Thief 11. True Love Waits
It's absolutely haunting. A step back in time. Feels like this should have been put out instead of Hail to the Thief.
It's up on iTunes now FYI. So far I'm loving it. Definitely haunting textures. Almost begs for visuals to go with. It's a shame we are done with the physical music era. Really wish I had the art work to go with. .... Finally had a chance to really listen to the whole thing. The thing about this record is there is really no "bodysnatchers/National Anthem" type of track on this record. Burn the Witch really does seem to be the most up tempo track on the record. Ful Stop works up into a nice uptempo but haunting track resembling "Where I end and you begin" but different in a good way. The soft tracks are not all piano ballads. Some really beautiful acoustic pieces like Present Tense & Desert Island Dark. Tinker Tailor is the perfect send off track, and True Love Waits, while a gem of a B-side that is revered by RHead die hards, seems like an encore, and sort of duplication to superior tracks such as Glass Eyes (maybe my fav song on the album at the moment... beautiful), and Daydreaming (which go figure Radiohead) is really growing on me fast. That being said TLW's has some of the best lyrics Thom has written. Did I mention Glass Eyes is incredibly beautiful??.... yeah. This one isn't for everyone as Radiohead seems less and less concerned with throwing a bone in every album to get everyone up and dancing at concerts with some guitar thrashing. This album will be on the shelf with my other winter favorites like Bon Iver's first LP & EP & Fleet Foxes. And for those of you that haven't loved all of Thom's solo (mostly electronic) stuff, don't worry, the other guys (especially Johnny) have influence to bring out the best Thom we could ask for. So far id say I highly highly recommend it. However like any Radiohead album it will take months, & even years to let it grow into whatever its going to be in the incredibly discography of IMO the best band to cross generation after generation & continually evolve like no other band I can think of. Remarkable career & this one does nothing to harm their legacy that's for damn sure.
WOW. They always bring a unique and different vibe and they have done it again. Best band of all time. DD
