Talks Portland series, McHale, etc. http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterockets/2014/05/qa-with-rockets-general-manager-daryl-morey/
Q. Do you have any concern about Kevin McHale being in the last year of his contract next year with the ‘lame duck” issue? A. “No. He’s a great coach. It’s not an issue for him or for us. I don’t see it as an issue. I’ve never bought into (the lame duck factor) for any coach. Some coaches disagree and some GMs may disagree, but he’s a head coach and he does a very good job. Just like I’m reevaluating and taking a look at what I need to do differently and better, he’s doing the same and our players are the same.”
Typical Moreyspeak interview. McHale - We got him so he's going to support him. Parsons - We'll see. Lin/Asik - Don't get your hopes up Trades/FA - Don't get your hopes up We'll see what kind of rabbits he pulls out of his hat.
Yeah...you can't tell by this if he wants a third superstar or improved role players. Damn geek speak.
wish he could explain why he feels mchale is a good coach. i seriously have no idea other than a great relationship with the players.
Great coach? Translation "I wanna continue controlling the coaching decisions as GM for thlis team". The Rockets will never win a ring with Daryl Morey as GM.
the sad thing is that POS cuban was actually right when he told dwight this organization doesn't have the drive to win a title.
That's like 90% of what it takes to be an NBA head coach. You have to manage all these prima donnas who don't listen to anyone.
We won't know about Parsons option until June 29th because we're trying to complete a trade before then so we can run Parsons through restricted free agency but if the trade does not materialize we're going to exercise the option and keep all our options open for 2015 free agency.
Is he saying that other coaches and GMs may disagree about the existence of the lame duck factor, or he is acknowledging those who have questioned McHale's abilities as a head coach?
