I am telling you man, those things were bulletproof. Those who have later model Porsches still swear by them though. I can't vouch for their VW clone Cayenne and miatta-upgrade Boxster however. Subaru is another non-volume brand I hear nothing but great things about, they seem to last forever as well. I hear they may go bankrupt soon.
Yes, but if you're Porsche, I don't think you want the name Volkswagen anywhere near your stuff. It's like I'm sure Jaguar didn't want Ford associated with their brand even though Ford owned them. Of course now Jaguar's owned by Tata Motors, so that may have been a step down... lol.
Yes, I know what a Cayenne is "capable of" (it's exactly why so many Porsche 911 owners were pissed when the Cayenne Turbo and Turbo S came out), but my argument isn't what it is or isn't capable of. What would you call it? God's gift to stay at home moms?
It seems the Porsche founder was the one who designed the first VW Beetle. So the 2 companies have been intertwined for awhile. What is the use of having a turbo charged SUV anyways. Are Soccer moms gonna drag race their Cayennes on a street fast and furious style?
The thing is, though, Porsche did it backwards. They gave the 911 the Boxster front end. The last couple of years, they've been re-differentiating them, though. Porsche often does some kind of strange things, though. Like introducing the Cayman S that outperformed the more-expensive 911. Maybe it's just a sports car thing, though. The Murcielago and the Gallardo have very similar front ends, too, as do the 599 and the 612. And I don't think I'm the only one who can't tell the various Aston Martins apart. Personally, I don't care for the Panamera or whatever it's called. I don't care for the back-end, mostly.
The pictures you posted are old renderings by the fans. This car just made its debut in Shanghai auto show
Remember the Portofino from Lamborghini? Eventually became the Chrysler Concord / Dodge Intrepid lines...
The R8, it's not even close. What a fabulous car. That said, I was surprised at how well this Porsche turned out. It truly is a very nice looking car, and I'm not a big Porsche guy. Speaking of which, the Cayenne? Worst thing on four wheels that doesn't start with a "Beet" and end with a "le."
The R8 is simply beautiful. A friend of mine let me drive it, and flooring it on 59 was one of the most enjoyable moments of my life. The only current Porsche I like is the GT3. Porsche looks never appealed to me. They look like bathtubs.
If you think Cayenne is just about straight line 0-60, then you need to look a little closer. They can handle as well or better than most sports sedans, especially the ones with PDCC. I do agree with soccer moms driving cars with way too much horse power though.
Technically speaking, I am driving a Nissan. The Infiniti M45 is a fabulous automobile for its class, but its awesomeness is probably too subtle for those that don't know/care much about cars. Add to that, it is fairly easily confused for the G35 sedan if you aren't looking carefully. Technical specs aside, Porsches have a uniqueness in their appearance that my car doesn't really have. It'd be fun to drive a car with a big "wow," factor on occasion.
I think you just like making up arguments as you go along. For the 2nd time, where did I say anything about the vehicle being about "0-60" times?
