True...both the Miata and this Porsche have headlights, a front bumper, a grill, etc... The similarities are shocking.
the backseat looks cramped......i'd much rather stick with the S8 or Quattroporte in this price range
I am somewhat saddened by this. I have always like Porsche because of its racing heritage and 'purity' as a brand. I was somewhat annoyed by the SUV until I got a chance to drive it and found out that it was one heck of an SUV, and very much has the heart of a Porsche. But I am not crazy about the sedan idea, although they may, once again, prove me wrong. For what it is worth, I think Porsche makes some of the most reliable and durable vehicles in the world. And yes, that includes the Japanese brands. Their German and Euro competitors have had some serious reliability issues in the past, but Porsche vehicles are freakin' bulletproof!
It's not Porsche hate... some people just don't like the Panamera. I've never been a fan of Porsche's looks except for one car that I absolutely loved when it came out - the 959/959S. Now that is what Porsche should be about. And for cryin' out loud, try to make your cars look a bit different... they have 50 models coming at me and they all look the same head-on. lol. The Boxster was a joy for 911 owners when people couldn't tell the difference until they got to the back.
I actually don't mind the Cayenne - it's ok. Moreso than the Panamera. The Panamera isn't horrific - it's just not Porsche to me. As for the Cayenne, I disliked it simply because nameplates like Porsche, Ferrari, and Lamborghini are some of the greatest names in performance cars.... I just didn't enjoy thinking of a Porsche SUV. Names like that are more than just another car-maker. Leave the SUV, $40,000 cars to the GM's, Lexus', etc. - you guys need to make 2-door exotics!
That's terrible And the worst thing about Porsche is they nickel and dime you on every possible extra. If the base model is $90k, then by the time you add all the options you need to make it a normal up-to-date car, they will not let you drive it out of there for less than $115k!
And what is it about a Porsche that makes you say that? You're not exactly driving a Nissan Sentra. Just curious.
It is difficult to screw up an engine (at least in today's ultra competitive automobile market), and the VW flagship V6 is certainly a terrific engine to use in their lower end models (to reduce costs I assume). Other major and minor parts of the vehicle (like transmission, et al) are usually what makes or breaks a vehicle's reliability/durability. That is why the Japanese have excelled for so long, because they make better (smaller) components and thus cars break down with lesser frequency. It is their attention to detail (and not their superior engines) that have won them their reputation. I think most engines used in pretty much any mainstream vehicle today are on par with one another. It usually comes down to power/fuel efficiency and the such.
Yeah, because giving cars $50-$80,000 apart in price distinctive front ends means turning a Porsche into a Jeep. lol.
My brother-in-law, the guy with the killer Spurs season tickets that lets us use them when the Rocks are in SA (the guy with the major bucks), has had a classic Porsche for many years. Always the same model, but he replaces it with a newer one from time to time. I have to say the cars are damn fine machines. If I had the money he's got to spend on a car, I'd get something different, but if you can afford one, I can understand the urge.
Why are you guys complaining anyways? It is not like the vast majority of you will ever sniff the interior of a Porsche
