I don't like these promises even in our current state. Show what you have in practice and then get some playing time in games.

At this point, I think playtime is unavoidable. Yao Ming and McGrady are out. Between the SF/PF/C spot, he can get some garbage time.

Maybe Morey wants to move Dorsey while he has some perceived value.

Can we use Pops at the 3, if he loses some weight?

No way. That'd be like playing Dwight Howard at the 3. Aint gonna work unless you want the title of the most congested paint team in nba history.

The only offensive weapon Pops has is the DUNK.

    to an extent, yes

I think the key is that Morey and Adelman want flexibility. Both in trade scenarios and playing scenarios.

Bringing Pops in on a non-guaranteed deal lets them take a low cost look at him, while potentially allowing Morey to explore some different trade options.

The real superstar in all this maneuvering is Les Alexander. I'm very impressed with how much he has been willing to spend when it appears clear that this is a non-contention year. Combine that with the bad economy and I think most owners would be looking to dump salary and cut costs. This off-season, Les has done everything in his power to enable Morey to obtain players and have flexibility.

    Kudos Les

No, but Landry could see time at the 3.

While I know that the Rockets have at least thought about Landry as perhaps playing a little as a "big 3", I seriously doubt that ends up happening. Barring a trade or a rash of injuries, I think almost every single minute of SF time next season will be played by the following players:

    (1) Shane Battier
    (2) Trevor Ariza
    (3) Brent Barry
    (4) Chase Budinger
    (5) James White (if not waived)

Yea you could probably put him at the 3, he just has to beat out Battier, Ariza, T-Mac and Budinger (if Chase makes the roster). :D

I just don't see Adelman wanting players that can only play defense, or at least too many of them.

He seems to value offense a bit more.....and Dorsey does not fit....he has no offensive game.

Either him or Hayes will be gone IMO.....and Hayes is way more valuable at this point.

I agree completely. But I doubt either Hayes or Dorsey has any trade value.

On one hand you are right about this. On the other hand Adelman is also famous for building up young players who have the potential to become more than a defensive presence. He'll put Hayes before Joey fo sure but I dun see many teams craving for his service. Perhaps as a filler.

I don't think you will get equal value in trading Hayes, but I wouldn't say he has no value. Dorsey would seem to be a salary cap filler as part of a bigger trade to me, but he may have some value with his exceptional play in the summer league.

Are you hinting at a move then? Or are you saying these guys are just over analyzing the pick up?

Dorsey hasn't PROVEN **** Yet. Pops has some amazing dunks and averaged 5 and 5 in 13 mins in the NBA.
