I hope not. They better be getting rid of Cook. He's crap. Just look at these numbers.

No numbers. No intangibles. Just crap.

Pops is getting no love here. He could be at least as good as Torraye Braggs. Come on people, look on the bright side.

Spurs cut him last year. What do you expect from him? He played for the raptors last season, and I didn't see him really help the raptors except the crowd getting excited when he dunked.

I know. Its like people on this board want a star for Battier and Scola as if they're stars themselves. I'm not saying that someone might not pull a gasol, but more than likely it won't without something else involved.

Scola is a good role player and that fine, but if he's your best player or even 2nd best player, your team is going to struggle. If Landry is in that same situation, the team is going to struggle also. The rockets can deal him and battier if a good deal comes up. In this transition year, they should explore all options that doesn't requirre giving away their young talent. Someone tried to hijack and mention Boozer, but Boozer is better than anyone the rockets will have this season aside from a healthy Tracy. I don't care he played for Utah and fans on this board hate him, if they can get Boozer, miles and fasenko for shane, scola, hayes and cook, do it. At the very least you get another expiring and a guy that's all star caliber, a young sg, and another young 7fter.

This has to be one of the most boring off season's in Rocket's history. A deal for this "pops" character would be like the ultimate "non-splash." I hope this is not the Rockets best idea for "rounding out" the team.

You can see that we're going to make a 2/3/4 for 1 player type of trade. Only question is who we're getting in return and who's going out. With the Pops signing, I'm thinking Dorsey and Cook are gone. Maybe Barry? I imagine one rotation player at least has to be involved to get a good player in return. Could be Landry. Could also be Brooks, if there's any truth to the Iverson rumors.

We do need to explore trading Luis and Battier, but they are role players and aren't likely to yield a star, you have admitted that yourself,so I'm surprised with the names that you have put out. Having said that,I do have some concerns about Boozer, despite him being a superior player than Scola and Landry.
First of all,is his mentality. Will he be happy when Brooks and Lowry fail to get him the ball unlike Deron? Williams has made him look better than what he is.

Boozer relies on clutching and grabbing on defense,he needs a blocker/defender at the rim,Gasol and Odom had very little problems with him. His injuries also cause some concern. Even if he agrees to sign an extension,he could pull another Cleveland too.

Luis has a 3.3 M expiring, and Battier has 6.8 M this season, and 7.3 M in 2011,which makes it hard to move them for a "Gasol" even if someone was willing to do that.

Well, if Morey trads Scola and/or Landry, and start Pops and David Andersen with Brian Cook as backup. Morey might be setting up the team to grab one of the top 4 picks in the draft.

    John Wall?
    Ed Davis?
    Donatas Motiejunas?
    Derrick Favors?

Pops is very athletic and all, but it seems like the things he does best are very similar to what Landry does... Looks like he does have a little more potential to play small forward and a higher ceiling to his game though. Does he have a jumpshot?

Ask yourselves this? Why do we need another undersized power forward? He can't even shoot the ******* ball! Nor can he make free throws. We have Luis Scola and Carl Landry who can both perform well in the post, and shoot a decent mid-range jumper when the situation calls for it.

    Pops is overrated.

This off-season has left many of you in bad shape!

Why not add him for cheap? He's basically a Landry without a jumper, and is more physical, might as well bring him in to training camp. Calm the hell down.

NO JUMPSHOT WHATSOEVER. Landry is a much more polished offensive player

He's very different from Landry. He has a 37-38% FG. He can't shoot jumpers, he can't do a lay up. He can dunk the ball, but that's not even a guaranteed shot. This makes him about as offensively useful as Dorsey or Hayes. He's a strong rebounder like Dorsey and Hayes. He doesn't block shots.

if you taking a chance on this Pops guy, why not use that money to sign iverson. Atleast Iverson will bring fans to the arena and can shoot the ball and score,, im so lost with this move (Hope something else is happening)

You could be right. I'm certainly not ruling out a deal. I just think its funny that every time the team brings in some scrub, the immediate reaction by the board is a unanimous assumption that the move is signaling the trade of one of the major rotation players at that same position. (See Hayes, Chuck after the Dorsey draft).
