What a drama queen. The guy is squatting 135 lbs assuming the bar is 45 lbs. Mcgrady weighs well over 200 lbs. Most guys can easily squat 135 and we are not professional NBA players. The look on his face like this is sooooo hard is drama queen at it's best.
Man these pictures changed my life. Also, I spent a considerable amount of time analyzing them and wondering exactly how apt TMac's facial expression was in each of them.
and how do you know hes not doing a burnout? what if thats his 30th or 40th rep? does the picture have a caption saying "this is tmacs facial expression doing his first rep of 135 lbs?"
read some of the posts at least before replying, or perhaps you need to apply some common sense to it...Grover trains individual muscles a lot, so tmac is likely doing lunges or some kind of one-legged squat... He's also had tmac do leg press while resting his foot on a foam roller, which obviously makes the exercise more difficult....so he may standing on something for this as well...
If he was doing anything harder than a simple squat Mcgrady would show it to advertise some more. I'm pretty sure he is doing a simple squat at 135 freaking lbs. For heaven sake I do 225 lbs and I'm hardly a beast or anything special. Most guys at my gym do at least 185 lbs. This is just an example of him exagerating and being a drama queen.
You have no clue at what point in time this pic was taken, could it have possibly been taken at the right moment. I have seen many vids of t-mac training where he makes a sudden face expression but then as soon as you see it he goes back to his calm self. But great job, i am glad we have somebody in here who knows what everybody and anybody needs and should squat based on a picture.
What if he is doing the 135 with more reps instead of heavier weight with less reps? Less weight and more reps = lean muscle.
He is practicing his stare-down. Nice. I always wonder how he was able to have so many celebratory stares when he scores 2 point in a regular season game.
ITs not just about the weight. Try 50 squats with no weight... have someone take a picture of your expression on the last 10.
Stop with the Steve Francis comparisons. You have failed abysmally every time you did. Remember when you thought DWade would be a poor man's steve francis? yeah, thats what I thought...
Good point and what you say is possible but I think he is being overly expressive to be a drama queen. That would be his M.O. I bet this picture was take during his first few squats at 135 lbs but if this is his 50th squat then he should be making those crazy facial expressions.
If he was interested in "advertising" himself in a positive way, why would he even take this picture into consideration??? He does several other exercises throughout the week, some without any weight, and he could have picked any one of those others and not risk a negative reaction... And if you're not familiar with rehab, perhaps it would be wiser to ask around, why tmac would be making that face with only 2 plates....this is a guy who never had significant muscle size in his legs, EVER. Apparently he spent most of his time doing leg presses with Wayne Hall, which is a different feel than squats and doesnt use the exact same muscles. That alone would cause him to start at a lower weight. Factor in the fact that he's got a several muscle imbalances, and that would mean going even lower in weight. Before he can pack on any serious muscle he had to balance everything out, and you dont do that by adding plates, you start from the very beginning with no weight. Personally, i think tmac spent the last few week just getting everything balanced out, and this is him starting on an actual weight training regimen to start adding some muscle. So its not surprising that he's starting at 135.
