I guess they can always dangle Casey Jacobson or one (or all) of their other all-world players who is not a part of the TMac package to trade up....

Jacobson, Barbosa, Lampe etc....that's not going to move you up from #7 to #3. That would take Joe Johnson or Shawn Marion.

    jake526 you're right.

Looks like Pheonix is out of the race for T-Mac

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft...tory?id=1827142

The Phoenix Suns have traded away the No. 7 pick in Thursday's draft to the Chicago Bulls, ESPN.com Insider has learned. In the process, the Suns may be out of the running for Tracy McGrady.

The trade, which won't be announced until Thursday, will give the Suns one of the Bulls' second-round picks (No. 31), a future first-rounder and an undisclosed sum of cash in return for the pick.

The move is no surprise on one front -- the Bulls have been looking for a second lottery pick. They have had an infatuation with Oregon's Luke Jackson for some time and sources believe Chicago likely will select Jackson with the No. 7 pick.

For the Suns, the move is more surprising. Earlier on Wednesday, the Suns were dangling the No. 7 pick, along with Shawn Marion, to the Magic in an effort to land McGrady.

However, after the Magic announced that they wouldn't be making a T-Mac trade until after the draft, the Suns grew impatient and agreed to the swap with the Bulls.

While Suns sources wouldn't characterize the talks with the Magic as "dead," they claim that they are no longer in active discussions with the Magic for McGrady.

Why would the Suns give up a high lottery pick for only a future first-rounder? The Suns didn't feel that any player left at No. 7 would help their team immediately. They also wanted the extra cap space. By getting the No. 7 pick off their books, the Suns are suddenly looking at $16.3 million in cap space this summer to make a run at free agents.

The Bulls also included minimum protections on their future first. The pick is protected in the top three in 2005 and as the top pick in 2006.

The Orlando GM is trying to make the best of a bad situation.

TM is forcing a trade to Houston, and SF is hoping that if he trashes Orlando, the deal will be wrecked.

Everyone knows this, but that doesn't stop Orlando fans from being pissed off.

TM should step up, and be a man. He should make a public statement that he wants to play with YM, and that he understands how difficult it is for Orlando to get a good deal in return.

Trust me, that is the LAST thing orlando wants. The second T-mac makes that official (which I don't think he has yet), Rocket's can get ready to rob Orlando blind.

He let his desires be known, that was enough. I respect him for keeping rather quiet during all of this.

I AM TIRED OF WAITING ON BOZO ORLANDO GM

Ok guys, I don't know about some of you .. but I am getting a little tired of waiting for this Orlando GM, who I hear went to Harvard, take his time with this proposed trade. Who does he think he is to act like he has all the time in the world. I want to see T MAC become a Rocket and I am getting frustrated as a fan hearing the Magic still talking to up to 7 teams. I will not be satisfied untill the trade if official. This crap about having to do it on July 1st or July 15 for base salary of Francis, I hear they could have already made deal now and got around that.

Then I hear that Francis is not the one holding up trade. So what is the problem ? That Orlando GM seems to think he has all the time in the world to go through every possible trade offer but I got news for that Harvard nerd. He shouldn't be so picky about what he gets in return for T MAC, seeing how he will get nothing if he ends up keeping him around this season. If

oops, forgot to end my sentence. I was just about to point out if the trade is not completed by July 11th then I will not get to see it happen. I report back to my Army duties on the 11th of July. I am in the Army so I do not get to post here as much as I would like. I believe the time I joined ClutchFans.net it was right around when I joined the Army in August of 2002. Hopefully some of you nice Rockets fans in here can keep me up to date. Alot of times even over-seas I can still keep up with the news here, but can't really post much.

he..the GM, really don't have the power here...the only person who have the power in this trade is McGrady...and he made it clear that he will only RE-SIGN an extended contract with houston...i don't think the other teams would risk signing him and knowing that he will not resign with them.....the hold up is that the rockets can not trade or do anything to steve francis until after july 1st because as said many times he is a BYC.....
