I don't even understand what last one means... how are you going to make a stat out of "Opposing Teams Strategy"? Couple of the others would actually be nifty though, hehe. Especially the one about put-back slams, but I think you'd have to include tip-ins with that. Otherwise, it would pretty much only apply to big men for one thing, plus it's otherwise obviously just a stat about flash, which the league would try to avoid I'm sure. If it were just about total put-backs, it would have some meaning, but offensive rebounds already partially cover that stat, so I doubt it'll ever happen either...

    Nice thought though...

First of all wingspan is not the same thing as arm length. I think someone already mentioned this. Yao is thin between the shoulders. He only has a 42 inch chest or something. But i bet his reach is as long as almost anyone else's in the NBA right now. As far as i'm concerned, Yao's arm situation is not a liability. Could he benefit from longer arms and a wider chest? Of course. But ultimately everything is a compromise. There is no such thing as the best of all possible worlds.

All these funny wingspan quibbles. Next I guess we need to figure out who has the longest face because what is the point if you have a long wing span but your shoulder is from two feet above ground ......

It matters more than you think.

The longer the distance, the harder it is to aim. Same thing with long arms. The other side of the coin that makes up for it is the motor sense of player. The longer the arms, the better motor sense is needed to shoot well.

Buddies, believe or not , I almost watched every single game Yao Ming has played since he was a kid. Tell you the truth, there's no any a bit he recently did which has surprised me. You guys are betting a ring on him? Put your stake on his defence. His offense will go through all right, but will never be as good as Hakeem. It's the defence that it will make him different. Neither his heigh, nor even his blocks changes the game. It's his awareness and his braveness makes him 'look bigger in person'. Trust me, he will dominate the defence side very soon.
