http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ba...e-preventing-coaches-from-dres?urn=nba-273614 Collared shirts are now required for coaches. Probably to prevent guys like Stan Van Gundy from looking like a bunch of thugs. Van Gundy wants the rule named after himself.
As someone who suffered through countless management classes this post made me lulz super hard. Someone rep this man for me.
It's not so much to ask. What's the big deal? I know my employer would have a lot of opinions on how I dressed if I was meeting thousands upon thousands of customers that day.
What's the big deal? Is exactly right. It hasn't been a problem in 30 years and still isn't. Why bother changing it?
Because Stern is trying to market the NBA to the corporates. Who else can afford season tickets at $150 bucks a game.
The NBA is getting a little too strict. Pretty soon players will play in polos and khakis. Instead of playing the game, we'll sit around and calculate who has the best odds to win.
To me, there is a huge gape between collared shirts and looking like a thug. I honestly think it would be awesome to see a coach out there in Tommy Bahammas, shorts, and flip flops. I don't want to see coaches in uniforms like MLB, but I certainly don't see a problem with NFL coaches attire. Isn't the NFL the most successful league...the one the NBA should be modeling after.
