I never really noticed how much how awkwardly he moves recently with the injuries, but now that I watch the old tape it really stands out.
I think if McGrady can get his shot back he had in Orlando while getting to 100% on all his injuries, he will be a dangerous force.
I belive his jumpshot is the last thing to worry about, at least for him. He has to regain his quickness and explosivness, and that's key. Once his knee is ready he will get the lift and elevation he was missing last year. Btw, I have just watched two games from last season, the one against Portland (when Roy hit that dagger) and against Boston at home. We can easily say those were his best games of the entire season and after looking closer he really looked horrible. That was the worst I have seen him all his carrer long. He couldn't move to save his life and even when his jumpers were going down they were still painful to watch.
and yet those were 2 of his best games last yr v. great competition, which means he still has the skills. as long as he can stay healthy and "feel" healthy, he will regain his all-star form (all-nba is questionable).
For example, against the Celtics he had a stretch when he made 5 shots in a row. He made 4 in a row against Portland as well, all attacking the basket. I was just wondering. Hell, the guy played on 1 leg with injured shoulder. He barely moved and still put up some points. But really, all game long the Celtics commentators were nashiong him for not playing any defense on Ray and what's worst they were right. Ray was running circles around him. He stayed on screens and all he did was reaching. I don't know, but If I had been the coach, he wouldn't have played even 5 minutes. Now imagine what he can do when he is HEALTHLY. When he has two legs to play on and he doesn't have to think abut his shoulder all the time. I don't remember him playing poorly when he was healthly. I really don't remember a single game. The problem is he is ALWAYS injured...
you should have watched that game in MUTE then. celts' commentators are some of the most homerish people in all of sports, and they're terrible.
i honestly forgot he was this good. i think it would be nice to have him back at full strength again. it's exciting.
Hearing those Celts commentators going on and on about Ron Artest in that game last year was just so irritating. I was so happy when Wafer sank them with that late 3. You could hear in the commentary they were just absolutely stunned.
Would like to see him get some nice ppg but I really like those pretty passes. If he could balance his passing and shooting a little bit more, he'd be better than ever, assuming he's healthy.
I think the greatest play on there was TMAC on the perimiter throwing a behind-the-back underneath to Hayes, who then MADE THE BASKET!
Seeing how T-Mac has never been the one to hide his honest opinions, he would be taking shots at the Rockets if that was indeed the reason why he was being held back. He hasn't made any remarks like this, so I'm guessing he's being held back because either he's simply not ready yet or we're being conservative (most likely the case considering what happened last year). I disagree at the idea of T-Mac being some sort of booster shot. He is NEEDED if the team wants to be playoff bound.
Damn I almost forgot just how good Tmac was a couple of years ago. At 1.38, he dunked on AK47 although it looked like he slipped a little just before he took off. Unfortunately, i am one of those people that have doubts whether he will return to that form ever again
