iPhone Black listing discovered: (this smells like a hoax to me) link AT&T now showing "iPhone Black" model in device listing By Katie Marsal Published: 10:00 AM EST AT&T Wireless, Apple's exclusive iPhone provider in the United States, is now listing a second model of the iPhone in its device database called "iPhone Black," AppleInsider has been informed. The finding, discovered by a reader on Sunday and confirmed by AppleInsider on Monday, is interesting if nothing else in that it may add a bit of support to ongoing rumors that Apple's second-generation 3G iPhone would sport Gizmodo reports on comments from an AT&T official who claims the "iPhone Black" reference is a placeholder for a "scheduled catalog update" to distinguish existing iPhone models.>a black plastic shell as opposed to an aluminum one. The option to select an "iPhone Black" model is visible alongside the traditional "iPhone" for existing AT&T Wireless customers who are logged into their account on the carrier's website, and who choose to select or update their handset model.
At this price, I may have to go and do it...I have T-mobile now and my dropped call frequency is ridiculous...
I heard the google phone physical prototype was shown to some T-Mobile employees recently. supposedly, unlocked iPhones can be bought from the Apple store for $399/$499, and the AT&T 'locked' phones for the $199/$299 price. But last I checked, Apple denied those rumors. It's somewhere on cnet.
This is crucial. If T-Mobile customers (and anyone else) can buy unlocked 3G iPhones from Apple stores for $399, they won't be able to keep them in stock. I'm not willing to switch from T-Mobile so I'm hoping. Apple's denials mean absolutely nothing.
my only concern would be the way 3G eats up the battery. I have a TILT and that thing needs to be charged daily w/ o fail or else it is dead. But 3G is so fast compared to edge.
I have the Tilt, too. I'm on my third one- I fried the first one but managed to get the warranty to cover it, and then the second one's keys popped off. The second one I had and the current one haven't had the battery problems that my first Tilt had- you might want to see if you can get the firmware updated somehow. I can go a week with light use without charging.
Sorry to derail the thread, though if you want a REAL phone, these two are better choices, just not available yet though: If you have money buy this: Sony Ericsson X1 If you don't then this might work: Blackberry Bold
I used to use Sprint and HATED them. In late 2006, I switched to T-Mobile, and I love it. The service is reliable, and the price is very fair for how much I use my phone.
Very tempting. I swore I would stick to Verizon after 4 years of bouncing from sucky service to sucky service. I know ATT is much better now, but I still think my service is doing better than my girlfriend's, which is ATT. But the iPhone looks delicious. I should probably do my research on other comparable phones though. BTW, the Apple rumor mill confirms a 'larger' iPhone will be coming out. It's aimed to be a mini-tablet PC.
Apple denies everything that leaks, so you can't trust them I've been waiting for the 3G iPhone for a while now...My contract with ATT is up in August, and that can't come any sooner My families been with ATT/Cingular ever since Houston Cellular, and we've liked their service Rollover is amazing, but my dad uses most of that for business Reception isn't as good as it used to be, which is odd because it was supposed to get better when Cingular merged with ATT ATT is probably the second best cell phone company after Verizon...Their signal is supposed to be the best but Verizon is so expensive
Apparently this is suppose to come out tomorrow.... The 3G Apple iPhone will be released on June 4 according to Walt Mossberg, who seemed to offhandedly reveal this information in a recorded meeting from CTIA (below). The Wall Street Journal Technology columnist seemed completely assured and consciously specific, as you can see at 6:53 into the video below. Rumors have been swirling about the new iPhones imminent release, as we mentioned back in March. Mossberg, along with New York Times Technology columnist David Pogue, both have most-favored-journalist status with the secretive Apple marketing machine, being allowed special advance units for review of both the original iPhone and Appleās new MacBook Air ultrathin notebook. http://www.stationstops.com/2008/04...rg-disclosing-apple-3g-iphone-2-release-date/
Don't worry about derailing this thread, friend! I always wanted to own a phone that looked like a HUGE BORING GRAY SQUARE SAYING I STOLE IMAGES in my pocket to call my friends and family.
