Go back and read my first post and tell me that it was without humor. BTW, for my efforts on the first post I got called a hate monger.
Why? I think we can all discuss whether Atlantis is mythical or not, without calling each othe hate mongers or bigots. Any untoward comment about Noah or his Ark though, even if only superficially like noting how much rain fall amount, and the name calling starts. It appears that any untoward comment wrt the Bible is taken as a direct, unwarranted, all-out frontal assualt on the Bible and that is not what made this country great. Toleration of a small variety of Christian beliefs is what made this country great. Yadda yadda yadda.
how about just showing a little respect? what got this thread moved was Meowgi's comments that if you believed the flood story you were an idiot and deserved to be called that. that's what got it moved, as best I can tell. hardly respectful. i don't generally take a literalist approach to the Old Testament....but making a comment like that about people is arrogant and rude. it's ok to disagree with people. that's not the problem, here. your comment that somehow something was pushed on you here by radical Christian literalists is inexplicable.
How about you showing a little respect? Think about it. I don't want to read religious articles in The Hangout. Any article promoting the discovery of Noah's Ark is religious propaganda, plain and simple. You may not see it that way, but I do.
wow, really??? posting an article from space.com is hangout evangelism? hmmmm.. well i didn't post the article. but let me apolgize on behalf of all Christendom for such a heinous act. if it had been posted in D&D would it be less offensive??? is the thread titled 26th anniversary of my story equally offensive??? any mention of God, at all?? as an aside...i don't think anyone was trying to convert you to Christianity by posting this article from space.com. but if you're offended by any religious idea or notion, then it really limits my ability to post here....because a lot of my thoughts on politics emanate from my theology and my faith.
All the great stories of mankind are true to some extent ~ that's the reason they survive for thousands of years. There are serious scientists looking into the great flood ~ in one form or another there was a great innudation of water in the 'known' world at some point in human history. As for the satellite image at the start of the thread ~ it sure looks like a large rock outcrop. I'm not sure how their seeing an ark from that photo.
Meowgi, Meowgi, Meowgi Your 'tone' is what some posters here are annoyed with, not the 'content' of what you say. Apparently you rub more than a few people here the wrong way. When you address people in that tone, your message is lost, whatever you're trying to say is ignored, although you do at times make good points, but you turn a lot of people off with your 'tone'. Just my two cents, you might not care, you might intentionally try to come off that way, not sure.
Wrong. My post was a reply to Fatty's "Tell you what anti-christ anti/religious people" remark (because of course religion=christianity) that has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the ark myth. Is that the respect you are referring to? You didn't seem too outraged at that post, in fact you endorsed it. I'm sorry but No Worries is kind of right. If someone posted that the where abouts of Santa Clauses' North Pole Village might have been discovered, even if from space.com, there would been plenty of ridicule. This is no different. Nobody should be suprised.
I thought Meowgi's idiot comment about people who believe in the literal story of the bible was uncalled for. But Max, Fatty's little meditation about non-believer's living in hell was equally, if not more offensive.
is it that hard to ignore the thread?? You would have posted your nonsense whether it was in the hangout or D & D. Tell you what, when you run your own BBS, you can determine what is D & D material and what isn't.
Oh woe is me! Give me a freaking break dude, a story regarding Noah's Ark is far from an evangelical crusade across the clutch fans php code... stop being such a drama queen. This wasn't an article posted from a right-wing-Bible-thumper site, this was posted from freaking SPACE.COM! Stop crying like a little girl because Noah's Ark "offends you"... You jumped on the "this belongs in D&D bandwagon" because you lack the "tolerance" that you preach for.
This thread reminds me that right wing Christians aren't the only ones who are closed minded. There have been bonafide geological discoveries of things talked about in the bible that deal with King David, the dead sea scrolls, and the like. When something is discovered by scientists and it happens to somewhat coincide with parts of the bible, that doesn't make it un-scientific, or attempt at religious or christian propoganda. I am not saying that this is the ark, and it is a scientific fact that it has been found out. But there are discoveries of things from the bible that are fact, and have been discovered. Where would No Worries or Meowgi suggest we discuss those?
I was totally joking around in my first post in this thread, just havin fun. I couldn't care less about this thread being in the hangout. I swear to Noah.
