You complain about how Peter Jackson didnt do justice to the LOTR books and then say you loved Mission Impossible, a movie that completely raped the whole idea behind the old 80's TV show that I loved. Inconsistent. Mission Impossible sucked huge.

    Wrong.

It isn't inconsistent for me because I never watched the old 80's TV show.

Right. It is inconsistent from my perspective, because I did watch the old 80's show.

I'll be damned. I didn't realize it was that old. Pretty good production values for a 60's/70's show. I always watched it on Sundays during the Mission Impossible/Amazing Sunday (think that was the name) hour, and later included Ripley's Believe it or Not. Good times.

At any rate, my biggest problem with MI the movie was that it shirked the notion of serious teamwork. The TV show was all about the TEAM. Each member of the group had a specific skill and they always combined them all to achieve their objective. Cruise had a team in the movie, but most (all?) were killed off in the first 15 minutes, and after that it was all about Tom. And that pissed me off.

i have no idea how they will make a movie out of the 4th and 5th book. there really long books.

i wonder if anyone will ever make a movie from any of ayn rand's books. i have always thought they would have a lot of possiblities there.

to be totally fair about it, I must admit that there was a newer version that appeared briefly in the late 80's....but it only went 30-something episodes before cancellation.

Oh, how you've set yourself up here, nomar. I won't take the bait, though. Too easy. :)

What about Mission: Impossible 2? Eyes Wide Shut? Far and Away? You actually LIKED those movies? WTF, dude. Never become a movie critic, please, for all our sakes. (RM95 might kill himself, otherwise.)

Ok, between this and the incessant love of Dune, I have to wonder - is Nomar just a gay version of the Comic Book Guy???

    Tom Cruise.

    Dreamiest actor ever.

I just got through reading Goblet of Fire and it was great. The majority of people I have heard from have said Order of the Phoenix is very good too. Guess I'll find out...

You were calling me inconsistent in my movie tastes because I dislike LOTR because it doesn't do justice to the books yet I like MI which apparently doesnt do justice to the TV shows. Yet because I never watched the TV shows, it isn't inconsistent for me to like MI.

    CASE CLOSED

Also, Vescey - Never seen those three movies. So my statement still holds true, and is valid.

Jeff - I'm reporting your post. Slanderer.
