I believe they said they'd keep the bear claw as a secondary logo.

We went from a nice red and yellow logo to a vibrator with teeth and then back to a nice one, change isn't always good. The Grizz new one looks too plain.

Without saying too much, expect the Grizz uniforms to be mostly hued in the Seattle Seahawks look with the "dreary" look going......

The Memphis "Raptors/Blue Jays" typeface that I alluded to in the earlier posted "scoop" thread will be used for the font and numbers.

Like I also said earlier, the "ball and claw" logo will be updated and used quite a bit as a secondary logo. Expect a triple-blue shaded claw clutching gold ball.

I would love to elaborate more but I cant. I have noticed that at most of the places I have leaked the logo news too, the Grizz organization has actually come in and had the thread edited and locked up.

Mods, has that happened here? As far as I can see, it hasn’t happen with my scoop thread on the Grizz logo as its still here, currently un-locked. Were you guys ever contacted by the Grizz organization concerning the thread? Just wanted to know......

Oh and speaking of scoops............remember this script below.....

You'll see it in the future, used on the Bobcats soon-to-be-unveiled uniforms. Orange, blue, and white.....very "Knick-ish." How dare they try and rip off my team's look. [IMG] [IMG]

FYI........The next big logo change will certainly interest most of you Rocket fans. It will come from your favorite loveable franchise, the Utah Jazz. :D Early word is to expect Green and Gold (a la Colorado State) to serve as a link to the past and create a new classic "outdoorsy" look to try and correctly represent Utah for the future. After that, Indy will make a change to its logo and uniforms for the 2005-06 season.

    That's all for now....

Boy, I saw this and my first thought........I didnt think the Ggizz would go this far. Their "locking" the logo pic into the thread to prevent it from being rapidly spread.

Eh, but they cant stop me.........:D

That and the Bobcats logo look like going High School is the new in thing to do for execs. Way to be bland!

I think it is clear that the new NBA trend is away from the cartoony over the top logos to more subtle classic looking images that will be more timeless.

Tigereye....thanks again for the very cool Logo info! Look forward to your scoops on the Utah and Indiana logos down the road!

Yeh, I actually agree.....The Cats logo is the worse done. I see no "hip-hop" infulence in it. And wait till you see the "hip-hop" influenced uniforms.

As for the Grizz logo.......its just too plain. I cant find words to describe it. That's why earlier in the "scoop" thread, I alluded to it as being a "straight-on triple-blue shaded" bear head. Cause that's all it is.......

And the fact that they were so creative, they borrowed the Timberwolves shading effect and and the Blue Jays script doesnt make things any better. Now their not the Memphis Grizzlies anymore, the the Memphis Timber-Jays!!!!!!

I'm glad you mentioned this Duece........many people thought the Rockets new logo was horrible when it first debuted.

I would like to see there feelings on the new Rockets "Type R" logo now compared to these latest new logos. I'm sure we would get a very different (and favorable) reaction to the Rockets logo now.

That's why I have always applauded Tim and the marketing staff on the great job they did on the new logo.

They did their job and gave Rocket fans actually what Rocket fans wanted.... something simple, sleek, and timeless.......not disasters like the Grizz and Cats. What more could a fan ask for.......(besides a "Houston" alty jersey)

BTW......Duece, no probs. And after seeing some of the latest designs, I myself look foward to what is found next. I like always being able to keep fans well informed. Now if only I can be an actual "NBA Insider." That could get me a sweet studio job with a sweet pay check, kinda like Stephen A Smith........

You have a pulse and an IQ in positive digits, that puts you ahead of Smith.

I've heard the rumors about Utah. I know it's a pipe dream and will never happen (because Utah sucks), but they need to trade names with the Hornets. Utah Jazz is wrong on so many levels.

The new Grizzlies colors and font remind me of the old Cavs jerseys except substitute gold for orange.

It doesn't inspire me at all. Maybe the people in Memphis get it.

    Well Phi......here's the inspiration.

Blues Music.......what Memphis is famous for.

Also, their new arena (FedEx Forum) is a block away from Beale Street, in the heart of Blues country. Thus justifies the reason for using all these different shades of blue and making the whole set look gloomy.

As for taking all the ferocity out of the bear in favor of just being simple.......I cant understand that myself.

I think Memphis should just change the name to something that the city is famous or known for forget just changing the logo.

Personally, I like it. It's fairly simple and I like the shades of blue that reflect the whole Memphis theme. Nice. I think it will just take some getting used to for the rest of the league (much like Memphis being good:eek: )
