Type "Houston Roc", the "kets" appears, so press TAB on your keyboard. It completes it for you.

Keep typing "fan fo" and 'rum' appears...

Press arrow down, to reach the selection in blue (which has "i'm feeling lucky" with a chevron >>), then press the RIGHT ARROW key to go to "I'm feeling lucky" without even having to use your mouse at all.

    You're at CF.net!

Awesome improvement! Google drops a nuclear bomb on Bing/Yahoo. This time, they will be forced to copy and better do it in a hurry or face annihilation.

Have you tried it or are you just reading what people are saying in this thread?

Google has always had the suggestions, but now they are actually loading the first page of search results for the top suggestion as you type.

I really don't think it's an easy change to make. I imagine Google has spent a very long time developing it for it to be this fluid and work as well as it does from day 1.

Like I said earlier: amazing. From a technological and software standpoint, it's ridiculous.

It will be entertaining to see Bing try and respond, though.

Does Bing really need to respond, though? It's great from a technological and software standpoint, but it doesn't really add that much to the searching "experience."

I believe this is a major game-changer. Bing MUST respond or get left in the dust. I think this is a major change to the search experience. At the very least, it's a bell and whistle that EVERYONE is talking about and a probable (vast) majority of people love for it's theatrical value. The lesser competitor (Bing/Yahoo) is forced to go 100 mph to match this feature.

If this fizzles out into being no big deal like Google Wave, then oh well. But I doubt it. At this point, nobody knows how much the search paradigm may change. It may take some time to shake out.

I don't get it. Hasn't it been like this for a long-ass time?? Type in the search bar....it predicts what you're typing....?

Also, I hope this doesn't get lost in this thread, but has anyone else had trouble with Google Images and Google Maps lately? Maps won't load for me and the new image search only bring up page 1 with all of the following pages showing blanks as you scroll down.

I thought Firefox and/or Flash might need an update, so I waited. Both updated today and I'm still having the same issues with images AND maps.

I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.4 with the latest versions of FF and Flash. I don't have this problem in Safari and Bing works well with both browsers, too.

Apparently it hasn't been updated for your account yet. This is more than the search bar predicting what you type next. This is the results showing at the bottom as you type along with the same old predictive search bar.

Yes, that's correct, but this time, the results appear as you type and with every keystroke, a new search results page, because you change what Google thought you meant at first. See my "Roc" and "kets" examples above.
I've had problems when loading images on the first and second page, when the "Page 1" or "Page 2" title remain. Sometimes they're blank. I've had this happen on IE8 and FireFox, too. :(

TSchmal and Steve_Francis_rules, I felt sort of bad when my oldest daughter said: "Dad, let's give BING a try. OK? From now on, just try Bing", at the beginning of last school year. By the start of the last few months of the school year, she saw me searching Google... and I quickly said to her: "Oh... ummm... sorry, I meant to tell you... Bing is... kind of... bad... and it's gotten worse... the results don't even work sometimes, and they have overload on images and advertisements... :( I meant to tell you." She quickly said: "Yeah, I know, dad. We stopped using it at school, too." I was redeemed. My daughter KNOWS this interwebs thing.
