...used to be cool until the Stone's Throw opened up in front and now it's overrun. What other cool place play good music and people actually dance (rather than lounge and txt each other)? Don't want the douche club that makes people stand in line outside in front of a red velvet rope for the sole purpose of making it look elite. This summer, I went to Bambou (in Rice) and got turned away because my shirt was untucked. I was wearing dress shoes, slacks and a nice button down collared shirt. Said if I tucked in, I could go in. Pass. Douche meter broke. Boondocks is my vibe. Good DJ's (usually), cheap drinks, people have fun and dance rather than try to look pretty. Where else is cool?
Boondocks is still fun. Went recently and was still good. It has been the same DJs for years. You could try the Flat I guess. Same DJs play certain nights at both. Same with Foxhollow. Just have to check who is DJing those nights.
I think he's saying there's an overflow from Stone's Throw of yuppies and less of a club atmosphere. I guess I'd recommend Barbarella as the heir to Boondocks in terms of hipsters, dancing and cheap booze.
It's good on Fridays and Saturdays. There are always plenty of people dancing and a huge patio. They sell tall boys of PBR and Lonestar . Parking is a bit dicey in that the bar is located in a homeless stomping ground. I think they may charge a $5 cover after midnight.
so you want to go somewhere nice but not too nice? one person mentioned sams club, but maybe check out costco. it is similar but the staff is paid better and tends to be in a better mood.
Barbarella is cool. Saturdays is 80's night and there is usually a nice vibe around midnight. If you like the house music, your best bet now would probably be the Flat on Saturday nights. If you are looking for something to do tonight and like some good underground techno, check out Jet Lounge. This will be the last night of good music there until they revamp the club. So hopefully things go well in the next few months and Jet gets back to where it needs to be in terms of quality music. Will keep you all posted
oh and btw, Sundays at the davenport are really good. Tech House Music from 7pm - 2am and it usually picks up by 9pm. Drinks are expensive but super strong, so its actually kind of worth it. People end up dancing here everytime, its kind of like the end up for all the party animals.
Stay away from this place.. unless you are a mid 20's and up white dude. Or you don't mind paying cover when the Caucasians get in for free. I like 3rd Floor better.
