The Texans renegotiate deals all the time and likely will again this offseason in order to buy cap space.
wow...spoke to soon...according to the term of the contract...he gets 57 mil guaranteed...How does the NFL not have a clause in regards to this??? So as long as Brady stay healthy, the Pats can load up on offense...well i guess its time for another player to pull a Benard Pollard... Im still perplexed at how this kinda deal doesnt violate NFL rules??? Time to change the thread title...
Why would this be wrong? Brady now has a contract that protects him in the event of injury. He can actually still be cut for sucking and that money isn't guaranteed. Brady's average salary is still decreasing. He is still likely taking a paycut unless they renegotiate it to a higher salary later. His current deal averaged $18M a season. Now he has an extra 3 years at $9M per season. Consider Manning is a similar age coming off 3 neck surgies and still got twice that, just less guaranteed against injury.
Why should there be a clause for this? I actually like the move for both Brady and the Patriots. It is fair IMO.
