Wha??? I think you read that wrong. I'm not talking about the artist, I'm talking about who listens to it. The only people I know that think Lupe is the greatest are white. I'm not saying he isn't good but best lyricist....hardly.
I wasn't aware record sales were an indicator of best artist. Those Spice Girls must've really been something then, huh? Their first 2 albums went 7x Platinum and 4x Platinum in the U.S. This thread reminds me of why I don't usually talk hip-hop on this board...so many of you are uninformed about real hip-hop.
Not a fan. He has some great lyrics sometimes but his voice is so annoying to me. I wish it was someone else's voice with his lyrics and then maybe I could dig it. I might still give his new cd a shot.
70% of rap is bought by white people. White people figured out they don't really have to appease the tough urban minded "black" core of listeners if they don't want to Don't think that the popular rap artists themselves arent aware. They know, its just if they want to cater directly to that demographic. Oddly, I think only a small # of white people go to rap concerts . We can just use our eyes on that one
Oh I know that most of the sales is bought by white suburbia. I mean more white people listen to Wayne then anybody else. But when I went too the Lupe concert, I was like damn there alot of white people in here. Great show though. One of the few still putting out thoughtful lyrics.
Eminem raps with so much passion, that I don't think many other rappers can do with. Like the anger he shows and turns it into rap....Very talented man.
