I chose Other.......anyone that's not white in race and possibly discriminate against black thugs in this league (which is exactly what we need). Ill go out on a limb and say this "run T-Will at the point guard position".
I voted for Gundy. But what a surprise, right? So, let me get this straight... Gundy had Yao and Mac...no rings. Gone. Adelman had Yao and Mac...no rings. Gone. Why did we fire Gundy again?
Mike Budenholzer. If Pop's first assistant in San Antonio can bring the culture of that team here, and do it collaboratively with the front office then I think we will have a winner.
I am starting to think although Mario would be under some scrutiny as coach? I would love him here as coach with his credentials. I mean he seems to me like he would be a defensive specialist with his knowledge working under the great coaches he has worked for and players. He has a massive credentials list. I wouldnt want someone else to give him his shot first and have him do good for someone else before we get our shot. I think he is ready. Mario Elie? I mean. He has all of the qualities to be a great coach. He has the credentials. So why not?
Mario Elie anyone? [rquoter]...If Alexander and general manager Daryl Morey have a change in philosophy and at least interview notable assistants around the league, former Rockets player Mario Elie may very well rank among the names worthy of a chat. Elie is currently an assistant to head coach Paul Westphal on the Sacramento Kings' staff. Obviously, Elie would relish the opportunity to become a head coach, but the Rockets' job would be the perfect fit for Elie since he still lives in the Houston area and this is the city where he was an important member of two championship teams. "I'm a guy who wasn't always the most talented but played a major role on a team," said Elie. "I just love what I do. I love the game of basketball. I enjoy being an assistant. Even if I don't get a head coaching job in Houston I would like to be an assistant since this is my home. I see the direction in which the team is going. You got an owner like Les who wants to make things happen and who wants to win now and he wants to bring talent in." ... Since his retirement Elie has been an assistant with the Mavericks and the Kings. "I'm very defensive minded," Elie said when asked about assets he could bring to a head coaching job. "I've won in this league. It's tough when you get in that seat. Everybody thinks they can do it but you have to have the confidence and you have to endure the tough times. When you go into a head coaching job you have to expect to be fired. That's how the world of sports works. Just like a player has to expect to be traded." Elie is represented by California-based agent Stephen Kauffman. Kauffman expects to make a call to Morey soon on Elie's behalf. "You have to have a guy that commands respect and Mario Elie commands respect about as much as anybody around," Kauffman said. "He's a tough guy. Players will play hard for him because of the type of person he is." Kauffman also represents current Rockets assistant Jack Sikma and current broadcaster Mark Jackson among others. Kauffman said he will present several of his clients to Morey. It's probably an uphill battle for Elie, Sikma and certainly for Jackson who has never even been an assistant coach in the NBA. But for Elie, it would be the dream situation: a former Rockets star coming home to coach the team he helped toward two championships. [/rquoter]
Since Turner took himself out of the running, I'd go for Jack Sikma, with Mario Elie as one of his top assistants, if continuity with what Adelman accomplished is highly regarded by Morey/Alexander.
Definitely a name to consider. Feigen brought up a potential Adelman/Shaw swap in the Artest/Ariza mold. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ZieIKIfHZRE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Really sad story.
All I know is, we better not get that garbage coach Mike "My assistant coach draws up all the plays" Brown like I'm hearing.
I'm suprised Carl hasn't jump at this. Calipari is the perfect fit. Not only does he lack self respect and is willing to deal with men who are without honor, but most importantly he's a wildcat and has connections to other dishonorable men, who are good friends with superstars. GET IT DONE MORAY!
Judging by Morey's comments we need someone who is able to coach a variety of players and still be competitive. Also someone who can develop younger players at the same time. Morey has made it clear there is going to be a lot of players coming and going until we form a championship nucleus. He has also made it clear we don't have anyone like that to build around on this current roster, thus he will be relentless in trying to trade for one. So the coach will need to be able to adapt to constant change. Since we are a young team the coach will need to be able to get the most out of them and develop them to their full potential. I don't know who fits that into category the best.
My dream scenario is to have both Van Gundy's and Dwight Howard coming to Houston. Then having Howard train our newest rookie, Lucas Nogueira.
Maybe Les Alexander is? Remember when they acquired Elie? Alexander made some pronouncement about a magnificent acquisition to be announced. It was Elie.... whom know one had heard of. He turned out WAY better than anyone expected, so I figure that Les loves t he guy now if he loved him that way back then,
