Well, all the major carriers now have include no roaming nationwide. As far as the replacing the phone, yeah, you're pretty much screwed with any carrier if it craps out before you are due for an upgrade. I have heard that Sprint's customer service is the worst though... As far as outside the US, Sprint and Verizon are both CDMA, so they are only going to be in the US and Mexico mostly. Cingular and T-mobile are GSM, which is more widely used throughout the world.
I think for Houston, Tmobile would have to be the best carrier. Everyone and their mothers have Tmobile, it'll save you from those roaming charges.
yeap but make sure you call that number. You have to open up a new line or add an additional line to your family plan for 9.99. You can't do extensions so if you're out of contract this is a good deal. The only thing about this phone that sucks is the processor. It's a bit on the older side but it still works pretty well.
Great stuff man, I had the SDA and it crapped out on me (dropped it too much). I didn't wanna downgrade my phone and pay more doing so, plus I need a new contract to get in my name. Thanks so much!
************************************************* I been thinking of buying that phone, you say they use Sprint....I wonder if I can change my Sprint account into an Helio account cuz I really want that phone...I just got finished with Verizon...great service but pricey and they charge for everything...if you dont have an family plan
I think for selection of phones, T-Mobile and Cingular are your best options. I've been with T-Mobile for 6 years and really have no complaints. Their coverage in Houston is excellent, I can't remember a call ever dropping on me. Not sure how they are outside this area though.
Thanks for the link, Biggie. My Sprint contract ends at either the end of June or July, and I will be switching over to T-Mobile for their "5 friends free" plan or whatever it's called (the one where 5 numbers you can call for free).
I've had Verizon for about 5 years now, and I've been generally happy with the service, be it in NYC or Austin. I need to get a new phone now (smartphone!), and I've been looking hard at switching to AT&T for the iPhone. However, two things are holding me back: 1) Verizon's superior service (see my post above about picking the network first) and 2) the fact that my entire family (minus my T-Mobile-loving brother) are on Verizon's network and are therefore subject to IN calling (gotta love network effects). How is AT&T's service in Houston? How is Verizon's, for that matter?
Those MFERS. they did that bullsh!t to me to about that vcast crap. 15 bucks a month for like a year. I should look over my bills more often
hmm...been thinking about going to cingular for awhile, but my family is on verizon, so whenever i have upgraded phones i stuck with verizon. i heard awhile back cingulars service was terrible though...dont know. i'm looking to upgrade to a smartphone...more than likely a treo. we'll see how it goes.
I will be purchasing a new plan soon and was wondering if anyone has suggestions on who to go with and whether or not anyone is running good specials right now? Pugs Edit....well, if I had known this was still in the unsorted threads I wouldn't have posted...
One suggestion....Do NOT go to a cell phone store or use the Internet. Try doing it over the phone. I just bought a couple of phones through Sprint (although some folks don't like them, we haven't had problems). The phone person gave me the web special price plus included the rebate so I do not have to send in any forms. She also included the vision plan on my phone free and gave us a 25% discount on the "Blackberry" plan for my wife's phone. She is overnighting them at no charge. She also gave us a 15% discount on the monthly plan price. The guys at the Sprint store were extremely unwilling to do anything.
