The vocals mixed with the bass solo are something to behold. ;)

If you dont have Interpol already  , I guess you must be very patient.

Anyways the new album is pretty, damn sweet.

Well worth the wait till Sept. 25th

thanks for the snobbery derailment guys, wasn't really looking for top 10 lists of the year (will do that when the year is over) and ripping shread off others lists, just hoping people can recommend & review cds they have bought recently

All I have been listening to of late, it seems, is classical and jazz music. One classical CD, in particular, that is outstanding is a Rossini one that has 14 of his opera overtures, is a double CD set, but priced as 1 CD. An incredible bargain. It is on London records and the performances done by the National Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Riccardo Chailly.

If anyone is interested, I will go further into the modern stuff I am listening to in Ligeti and Penderecki.

The new Megadeth - The System Has Failed

it's their best album since Rust in Peace. Huge Improvement over their last 3 albums. the only problem is it's not out yet. oops, did i say that out loud?

Here's what is kicking my ass right now:

-The reissue of the live Talking Heads album, "The Name of this Band is Talking Heads."

-a 2003 release, but new to me, Bonnie Prince Billy's, "Master and Everyone."

-a greatest hits collection by a 70's soul diva I was heretofore unfamiliar with named Candi Stanton.

-The aforementioned Eagles of Death Metal.,

-"Happiness in Magazines" by Graham Coxon

-and the brilliant "You Feel Me" by Har Mar Superstar

my personal top ten (today - tomorrow will be a different day) this year so far:

The streets * a grand don’t come for free (Mr. Skinner’s second album and also Mr. Skinner’s second maximum point album – garage/hip hop styled sound with excellent, poetic lyrics – It has to be heard to get the greatness of this guy)

PJ Harvey * Uh huh her – not much to say, except that SHE’s back.

The Zutons * who killed the Zutons – Liverpool based, mersey beat infected young band. Soundwise in the same familytree as the Coral. Lot of varying sounds. Great record.

The Secret Machines * Now here is Nowhere (an excellent mixture between Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and NEU! Band is from Dallas, Texas. Watch out for these dudes. For those who want to try them out – enjoy

The Libertines * the Libertines (breathtaking second album from one of the most exciting bands these days). This record has all the emotions.

Lucky Jim * Our troubles end tonight (an elusive mixture between, Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, Leonhard Cohen and I think some Cat Stevens!!!)

Franz Ferdinand * s/t (it still is one of the better albums this year)

Phoenix * Alphabetical (second outing of these french

Ron Sexsmith * Retriever (with this last album, he should finally be able to make it. Please give this man an listen) There are not many who deserve it more. Finest, melancholic popsongs.

Morrissey * You are the quarry (nothing to be said)

I am sure I forget some very good band I am listening all week.
