Well he technically DID charge you a destination fee if it's already in the 15995..which would mean he's selling the camry to you for about the price of a Honda Civic EX (top of the line). I say try to get it down to about 17 and you're good to go.
I called 10 dealers around me and they all said 15,995 was a great deal and that I should take it if anybody was offering it to me. I tried my best to even get it down to 17k drive out price, but they just wouldn't do it. The manager went on to say how they have the lowest prices in Houston and would match any price if it's legit.
I wouldn't know, I have never owned a vehicle from zero to 100000 miles before, and most Americans never keep their vehicles past 5 years or so of ownership/lease. I usually trade in/sell my vehicles before I do so as well. But I have had experience with second-hand used cars, and a couple of them were above 100000 miles, but none were Toyota or a Mitsu. However, from experiences of my familiy and friends, who have owned both vehicles, they have been on par for the most part. In one case, the Camry's A/C stopped working (despite regular maintenance for it) and the car was at times overheating (during stop-and-go traffic especially). The Galant, on the other hand, had its water pump replaced, and one of the electrical windows would freeze at times and stop working. Anyways, I just don't think that I could justify shelling out a few thousand bucks more for brand reputation. I usually look for the best value/ride/appeal of a vehicle I am purchasing, not go out to buy a specific brand. But that's just me.
