Yeah, it definitely detracts from the Austin skyline. My friend who lives there called it the Big Nose Hair Clippers. The main problem is that it isn't as tall as the width of the base suggests it should be, making it proportionally awkard. Also, you guys shouldn't overrate that new courts building in Houston. It's really a step backward architecturally. There's really no reason to put another Greek Temple front on a new building ever again. At least they minimized that element in the version that was actually built.

That is a great looking building. I wonder how much it cost the taxpayers. Does add to the skyline though.
The thing I don't like about the left field view at MMP is all those damn court/criminal buildings that are right there. There's the 1301 Franklin 5,000-man (hideous) jail back there, the newer 701 San Jacinto 7,000-man (still hideous) jail, the decent looking 19-story criminal courthouse and now a civil courthouse. Although the latter two I mentioned are pretty decent looking, the whole view is marred by that horrible old jailhouse and the world's largest jailhouse.
The Frost Bank building doesn't look so out of place unless you see it from an awkward angle like that:
If you look at the Tower from that angle, it looks like an owl too. Who knew the twins were architects???
