50 bucks says that player is Brent Barry - Come on, the dude is jokester, I think it has been quoted in the wrong context THe question to ask ourselves is why would Tmac quit? We are not losing, everyone is trying very hard, the coaching and the management is doing a decent job. So there are no reasons why he is quitting. He knows he is in the best situation since he joined the league so I would rather see the current situatoin as a performance slump (a long one at that) rather than him "quitting".
i'm glad some journalist finally tells the truth about this situation publically. kudos to you mr. blinebury.
Artest should have all the incentive in the world to play each and every single game in a contract year, so I don't buy the article's reasoning at all. As far as I'm concerned, Artest has been a model citizen and good teammate while a Houston Rocket and is far from any problem we may be having...
I agree, and he'll probably get the team's attention. Maybe that's what he wants. Anyway, it's his blog and he can write whatever he feels. But to me, it reads like he's losing his objectivity regarding McGrady.
the quitting is fabricated. jon feign said from his talks with tracy, he's simply highly frustrated with his own inconsistent play and made it hard for him to come to terms with his knee. he seems to be getting over it from feign's last blog.
I don't like Blinebury too much either, but some of you....my God, why would he directly quote anyone from the organization? He couldn't. Now, Artest does have the stress reaction, but at the risk of reading too much into something, I can't have been the only one watching that recent game (was it Atlanta?) where Tslack and Artest were yukking it up in streetclothes before the game. As goes Tslack, so goes the team. They play better when they know he's not gonna be there. When he's there, being a great talent, they defer to him, and find he's not really with them---just going through the motions. Now, if McGrady is supposed to be the $21,000,000 star of the team and (sporadically) playing with less of an ailment than Artest's, and since the aspirations of a title have grown dim, then yes, I'd say this would affect whether Artest's commitment to a degree. Blinebury is a canker sore of a human being, but it doesn't mean he's always or completely wrong. Whomever thinks Tracy McGrady is giving his all for the team is kidding himself. And as far as Feigen's reporting, Feigen is a little more of a company man than is Blinebury. Not a bad writer, but more of the kissa$$. Players won't confide in him if he's always slamming them in the press.
fran could be a little weird and harsh sometimes, but he doesn't make stuff up. i don't necessarily agree with every of his views over the years, but he's well respected in the media circle nationally. it just feels funny to see all the reactions from mcgrady fans. really funny.
Has everybody forgotten that Alston and Artest basically called out McGrady in statements to the press? Those previous comments seem to jibe with this latest information.
so you think artest has imitated tracy and his ankle is fine? b/c fran implied artest has not been on a straight line. i'm talking about artest here. what evidence did he have to make that claim?
wow. i replied to this thread and then went back and read some of the responses and I have to admit I am stunned at some of the comments. you guys are insulting the integrity of the man, calling him a liar, calling him biased, accusing him of taking words out of context . . . why? you guys have less information about this situation than fran does. what makes any of you think that you really know what's going on? certainly not enough information to make such naive and insulting comments. you guys say that this article is 95% b.s., but I would say that this article is 95% truth. yes its written in a harsh tone. yes perhaps it did not need to come across as such a bitter, vindicative piece. but that does not change the fact that there is a lot of truth in there- and that he is highlighting the severity of the situation for us for the first time. all of the threads you have seen on clutchfans about tracy looking disinterested, or not supporting the team, or not working on his game, or not doing his rehab, or not playing in b2bs, or taking time off for injuries whenever he wants . . . thats what this is all about. surely this picture makes more sense than you are giving it credit for . . . think about this . . . usually when a player is well liked and respected by his team, if he's in a bad mood or can't play, his teammates will try to talk to him, cheer him up, they'll be chatting on the bench, etc. nobody talks to tracy. nobody tries to b.s. with him on the bench. nobody even looks at him. pretty much everyone leaves him alone and seems to try to pretend he isnt there. there might be a reason for that.
If Feigan wrote this article I would believe it. Blunderberry on the other hand is nothing but a fat piece of lying lard.
tracy's staying. morey is not stupid to get back another bad contract. morey knows eventually tracy will play better. blinebury obviously wants otherwise since 2 years ago.
look, i want to know every bit of detail inside of the rockets. not that i enjoy bashing anyone or as a fan just want to see some sort of drama happen. i'm way past that age. i want to know because i want the team to win a championship (and then I will feel proud of them and feel good for myself ). i think this year's team when all healthy has the real potential to win it all. but now it seems to be in doubt. and i am pissed. i don't claim to know everything. but based on what i've read and heard, there is something that isn't too good for the team; and it's clear that mcgrady started this mess. if we do bad and way underachieve this year, i won't forgive him.
1) Adelman and Morey have had to sit down with the guy behind closed doors to try and get him to play hard. 2) The Rockets locker room doesn't have any faith in the guy apparently. Alston and Artest both basically called him out in the media. That just makes me think that these reports from Blinebury are credible. When management has to try to talk to you and motivate you and your teammates have to do the same thing I think there's a good chance that you won't be around much longer. Also, right now the Rockets are stuck in a bad contract with McGrady for two years. I'd say being stuck in a bad contract for only one more year is making progress.
I don't like Tmac's game....even though he shoot well the other night. Notice i say SHOOT WELL. There is a difference between shooting well and playing well. Tmac's game is all about shooting and taking jump shots all game long. I don't like his game because he doesn't do anything else. No driving, no layups, no helping defense, no rebounding, no effort, no desire, no hustling, no blocking...no fastbreaking. His game is all about taking long jumpshots and that my friend ain't going to take you far. Especially if he struggled with his shot which he often does. I say trade him when his value is up!!
nobody is denying the team is not in a good mood (we just got off a bad slump) and obviously a losing streak will make it tough for the team. and tracy's situation is not going to help it. and i'm sure there were "confrontations" and players/coaches have sat down and talk with tracy about his situation and how he has to play better. what fran just wrote is tracy is DONE with this team. players hate him. tracy is DONE with the team. both sides are DONE with each other. we're simply waiting for a trade it seems like and the clock is ticking when tracy is gone. and he said artest hasn't been with the program also, following tracy's lead. so you believe what you want to believe.
